In just a few shorts weeks I will have been alive for a quarter of a century. The past 24 years have been a wild ride and I am so excited for what 25 will bring. I've learned so many lessons in my long (I know it's really short) life and I wanted to share some of those important lessons with all of you:

1. It's OK to make a plan, but more than likely things will not go accordingly, and that is OK. Just never lose sight of your goal.

2. When setting goals understand that there will be obstacles and figure out how you will get passed them!

3. It's OK to not be OK. We all have bad days, and we all need some time to feel down. Just do not let it consume your life.

4. Do not allow a bad five minutes spoil your entire day. You had a bad five minutes, not a bad day.

5. There are some people in your life who are toxic to you, they could be an old friend, a SO, or a family member. Rid yourself of them, there should be no room in your life for people who bring you down.

6. You need to find a hobby that keeps you happy and sane. All our lives can get so busy and overwhelming, it's so important to have that one thing we can turn to.

7. Being alone is OK. In fact, you might find you sometimes crave it. If you find you are uncomfortable being by yourself, find out WHY.

8. If you have friends that you can sit in silence with, KEEP THEM. It's exhausting to be around people you feel like you ALWAYS need to talk.

9. Never be embarrassed of the small quirky things about yourself, it's what makes you different from every one else.

10. Never dress like you just rolled out of bed. You have no idea who you could run into (an ex, future employer, the love of your life, etc...).

11. Sing as loud of you want whenever you want, it's good for your soul.

12. Make sure you tell your loved ones you love them and tell them often. Life is so short and you just never know what can happen.

13. Make time to do things you've always wanted to. Always wanted to sky-dive? Plan it. No excuses.

14. Be there for people during their darkest times if you want to be there for their best times.

15. How people treat you is a direct reflection of how you allow them to treat you.

16. Being healthy feels so much better than how your body feels on processed foods. Eating healthier was the best decision i've ever made for myself.

17. Sunshine is good for you. I don't care how busy you are, find time to be out in it. But wear sunscreen, the UV rays are not.

18. Never give up on your dreams. It doesn't matter how old you are, how poor you are, or silly they seem. Our dreams are what we live for, never abandon them.

19. Reading a book is ALWAYS better than watching a movie or a television show.

20. People love to see you fail, don't let them.

21. Always back up your opinion, but don't be so close-minded you're not open to hear others opinions. Be open for discussion, not arguments.

22. Sometimes you need to be selfish.

23. Grades are important, but your mental health is more important.

24. Never define your beauty based on someone else's. We are all beautifully in our own way.

25. At the end of the day, you are the most important person in your life. Stay healthy, get good sleep, and do what makes YOU happy.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
