25 Things I'd Rather Be Than His Cinderella

I can be so many more things than just a girl who will be with a guy.

Yeah, it’s great to be told you’re pretty, and to have someone to always make you believe it. But wouldn’t it be great if you could believe it on your own? Why do women always need a man to validate that for them? A man to give them self-confidence, self-love, and sense of worth and belonging? I personally never want a man to dictate how I feel about myself or how I see myself. I don’t want to be someone’s “Cinderella” or someone’s “perfect love story.” I don’t want to have so little confidence, than to need a man to tell me it.

1. I want to be brave.

I want to be able to walk alone and feel just fine doing it. I want to be able to handle the “scary stuff” like protecting myself and killing spiders all on my own.

2.I want to be bold.

I want to stand out in a positive way. I want to be myself and not care what other people say or think.

3.I want to be empowering.

I want to empower myself to do anything I set mind to, but I also want to empower others to reach their potential too.

4.I want to be caring.

I want to be caring to myself, my environment, and to my peers.

5.I want to be a listener.

Not only do I want to have a voice, I also want to listen. I want to listen to others when they are hurt, or happy. I want to listen to other’s ideas and dreams.

6.I want to be confident.

I want to know that I can do anything I set my mind to. I want to feel good about myself and actually believe it. I want to convey confidence so others can feel confidence too.

7.I want to be humble.

I want to be able to admit when I’m wrong, and not get too cocky when I’m right. I want to be down to earth to others and humble. I want to show humility when I am right, but also when I’m wrong.

8.I want to be motivating.

I want to motivate others to strive to be the best they can be. I want to motivate others to be kind and be themselves.

9.I want to be strong.

I want to be able to be happy on my own and handle situations in a healthy, strong way.

10.I want to be beautiful.

And I don’t mean beautiful on the outside. I want to be beautiful on the inside and have a good heart, with pure intentions.

11. I want to be kind.

Not just with people I know, but with any person I come in contact with. I want people to see that I’m kind and actually believe it.

12.I want to be smart.

I want to work hard and study hard. I want to be smart to achieve my dreams and to know my worth.

13.I want to be faithful.

To my friends, my family, my loved ones, and my god. I want to have faith and show faith.

14.I want to be a goal setter.

I want to have goals and guidelines to help me achieve what I want and who I strive to be.

15.I want to be a dream catcher.

Going off of number 14, I want to set goals and dreams and actually reach them. No matter how big or how small.

16.I want to be courageous.

I want to be able to stand in a storm and know that I’m going to make it through. And show that to other women also.

17.I want to be empathetic.

I want to care about people and understand their situation and actually mean it.

18.I want to be genuine.

I want people to know that I mean what I say and mean how I act

19.I want to be honest.

I want to be able to tell the truth no matter the risk.

20.I want to be impeccable.

But in a positive way.

21.I want to be a role model.

I want people to be able to look up to me in a positive way.

22.I want to be a teacher.

Not just for my profession, but for life as well. I want to teach people about curriculum and about traits.

23.I want to be funny.

I want to make people laugh.

24.I want to be philanthropic.

I want to give. Not just money, or time, but love and friendship too.

25.I want to be a woman.

And by that I mean, I want to do it on my own without “needing” a man like our generation so desperately thinks they need.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
