Many people start their articles to their mom by thanking her for giving birth to them, for giving them life etc. But, you see, my family is different. I'm not biologically related to my mom, I don't look like her, I don't have her eyes, her nose, or her hair. But I do have some of her qualities.
Not being with my mom on Mother's Day is different, and difficult, and if I tried to tell you how much I love my mom, I would just start crying. Here is a list of 25 things that you gave me, Mom, despite our genetic differences.
1. Thank you for grounding me, it taught me right from wrong.
2. Thank you for being my number one fan.
3. Thank you for letting me have the last piece of cake (even though I know you wanted it).
4. Thank you for making me wear a jacket.
5. Thank you for making me take my vitamins.
6. Thank you for lecturing me about watching my savings.
7. Thank you for teaching me good manners.
8. Thank you for writing thank you cards for every gift I received.
9. Thank you for supporting me during my goth phase (good thing those days are over).
10. Thank you for putting up with my annoying singing.
11. Thank you for lecturing me about my messy room, and encouraging me to clean it.
12. Thank you for accepting the excuse, "I'm a teenager, leave me alone."
13. Thank you for always giving good advice and helping me do the right thing.
14. Thank you for comforting me when my heart was broken.
15. Thank you for your patience.
16. Thank you for listening to my high school drama.
17. Thank you for being blunt with my mistakes.
18. Thank you for making the doctor appointments because I refuse to.
19. Thank you for being a role model.
20. Thank you for watching, "Say Yes To The Dress," and agreeing with my judgmental opinion.
21. Thank you for telling me that my outfit didn't match -- before I left the house.
22. Thank you for your unconditional love.
23. Thank you for all the sacrifices you made.

25. Thank you for being the strong, hardworking woman I'm blessed to call my role model and mother.
So, thanks, Mom. You have made me the woman I am today, and I don't think anything will ever fully explain how thankful I am for you.
