25 Things That Every 20-Something Should Be Reminded Of

We've heard it all before, "There is no better time than in your 20's, so enjoy it while it lasts."

Truth be told, we are all a little bit lost. Some of us are approaching the final lap of our college careers and others are facing the realities that come with the real world. No matter where you are, there is always some room for guidance and reassurance.

1. You may not have everything in your life planned out at the moment, but that doesn’t mean that you aren’t going anywhere.

2. If at any point you feel like you are receiving less than you deserve, whether it is in a relationship, a job, or something else, walk away. Don’t ever settle for that feeling of incompetence.

3. Never let somebody tell you that you don’t care enough. You are the only person who can determine the truth behind that.

4. Set aside an hour every single day to focus on yourself. Go for a run, read a book, or take a long bath. Do anything that will take time away from all of the distractions in your life.

5. Smile at everyone who you come in contact with. You never know how their day is going.

6. Spend a little less time checking Instagram. Spark more conversations and appreciate the people around you.

7. There's nothing wrong with resorting to a bottle of wine and Ben & Jerry's after a long day.

8. Someone once told me, “The definition of insanity is doing the same things over again and expecting new results.” If you’re unhappy with something in your life, change it now.

9. Quitting doesn’t always mean that you are weak. Sometimes it takes more strength to walk away from something that makes us unhappy than it does to stick it out.

10. Stop comparing yourself to other people’s lives on social media.

11. Stop comparing yourself to other people. You will never learn to appreciate your own strides in life if you are always downplaying your success to the person next to you.

12. Never have too much pride to ask for help.

13. Sometimes it’s okay to take a break from the outside world and stay in bed all day.

14. Every once in a while, take the time to write down a list of things that you’re grateful for. If you acknowledge the little things, you'll find that the good often outweighs the bad.

15. Never let somebody see you cry over them. If they are making you cry, they're usually not worth it.

16. You are never too young or too old to start pursuing something that you love. Don’t make excuses.

17. Tell those around you how much they are loved and appreciated.

18. Never settle for a relationship out of fear that you won't find anything better.

19. Get your money's worth and take advantage of your education. You'll find that you're much more successful when you're studying something that you're passionate about.

20. Somebody else's opinion does not define the kind of person who you are. Usually, the toughest critics are the most insecure.

21. You can tell a lot about a person by the way that they treat those who can do nothing for them.

22. Never hold back from speaking your mind out of fear of the reactions that you will receive.

23. If he doesn't call you back, it's probably because he doesn't want to. Don't waste time wondering what you did wrong or could've done right, it's his loss.

24. Learn to feel comfortable when going out to eat or seeing a movie by yourself.

25. You are not alone. Realize that everyone around you is going through something and don't take it all too seriously.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
