If you're an English major, you love to read and write -- and no one seems to understand how this is possible. People are constantly wondering why you're getting a liberal arts degree when ALL jobs are in science and math, and the struggle of explaining that this is simply what you want to do is very real. Although you love that you're passionate about your major, there are some struggles that all English majors know way too well.

1. Having to buy at least 10 books each semester for all those lit classes.

2. And knowing that you will actually have to read all of those books.

3. Your professor nonchalantly saying that the homework is to finish a 300 page book...for tomorrow.

4. Having to know APA and MLA format like the back of your hand.

5. When your professor not only assigns a final term paper, but a final exam too.

6. Not being able to read for fun because you have so many books to read for classes.

7. And then having people make fun of you for actually wanting to read for fun.

8. The love/hate relationship with Shakespeare.

9. The awesome feeling of being assigned a book you already read in high school...but then realizing everything you learned about it in high school is wrong.

10. Writers block.

11. Saving a 10-page paper for the night before it's due.

12. Getting a bad grade on the paper you've been working on for months.

13. When a professor assigns a 12-page paper with no guidelines and says to "pick your own topic".

14. Pretending to sound smarter than you actually are by using big words.

15. When people say they loved the movie but didn't read the book.

16. When all your friends don't have homework but you have 3 books to read and 2 papers due tomorrow.

17. When you tell people you're an English major and they say, "Oh, so you want to be an English teacher!?"

18. People not knowing you can do other things with an English degree BESIDES teaching.

19. Feeling like you'll be unemployed forever since people make jokes about your major being useless.

20. Doing peer review in class and getting partnered with someone that hasn't even started the paper.

21. People thinking your major is easy because it's not math or science related.

22. Reading the final draft of your paper out loud and realizing none of it makes sense.

23. When someone in class spoils the end of the book for everyone.

24. Making book references as a joke to your friends and no one is laughing but you.

25. Constantly feeling overwhelmed with all of the papers, readings, and assignments you have each week -- but knowing it'll be worth it in the end.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
