25 Signs You And Your Cousin Grew Up Like Sisters
Julia Albini
"God made us cousins because he knew our mothers couldn't handle us as sisters"

Your cousin is the person who's always there for you, whether it's answering a FaceTime call to vent about a stupid fight you had with your roommate, or finishing each other's sentences before you even knew what you were going to say. They're your cousin, your backbone, and your absolute best friend. Here's every other reason we love them:

1. You act more like siblings than cousins, and more like best friends than siblings.

2. Whenever anything happens, she's the first person you tell.

3. They grew up with you, so they know exactly how weird you are and still love you.

4. This also means they know all of you embarrassing stories, which they bring up all the time.

5. Your parents think it's weird and unusual when you're not together.

6. Family parties are made more entertaining when you retreat from the madness and just hang out or observe your relatives who never fail to live up to their hilarious/dysfunctional reputations.

7. You both secretly believe you're a grandparent's favorite.

8. You've spent tons of vacations, family parties, and holidays together and never have a problem entertaining yourselves.

9. You borrow (steal) close from each other until this day.

10. You've shared toothbrushes, deodorant, hair ties...you name it, we've shared it.

11. Their parents are basically your second pair of parents and you love them and look up to them just as much.

12. You keep each other filled in on what’s going on with the aunt and uncle who are “going through a rough time right now," or on who got in an argument with who because family drama is the best drama.

13. You watched all the same movies, TV shows, and even had the same toys growing up and still have conversations reminiscing.

14. They lost grandparents when you did, got baby cousins when you did, dealt with one family crisis after another all at the same time you did. They were the ones there celebrating with you at your highs and mourning with you at your lows. From that comes an unprecedented kind of companionship.

15. People actually confuse the two of you for sisters.

16. To some people you're annoying and lack sleep, to each other you're the funniest bunch around.

17. You're brutally honest with each other whether it's telling them they don't look good in an outfit or that their Instagram caption lacks game.

18. You have so many inside jokes and code names that you basically have your own language.

19. You've had the craziest midnight snack cravings which you never hesitate to satisfy because there's no limit to how much junk food you take in with your bestie around.

20. You've talked about the future and how your imaginary future children will also grow up together.

21. You feel incomplete when you've been separated for too long.

22. You fought a lot, but always made up.

23. You defend each other no matter what, so if anyone messes with you, you know your cousin will ALWAYS have your back.

24. You've always got each other's backs no matter what.

25. You love each other more than anything.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
