Being in a relationship is rewarding in a multitude of ways, especially when the person is also your best friend. However, being in a relationship is not easy, and sometimes the effort put in goes unnoticed. From the little gestures to the constant companionship, here are some of the many instances where a big thank you is necessary.

1. Thank you for always being there.

2. Thank you for watching movies like The Notebook with me.

3. Thank you for tickling my back and playing with my hair.

4. Thank you for helping me when I've had one too many drinks.

5. Thank you for thinking I'm the most beautiful girl in the world.

6. And telling me that every day.

7. Thank you for going on crazy adventures with me.


8. Thank you for laughing at my jokes, even if they're not funny.

9. Thank you for being SUPER weird with me.

10. Thank you for listening to my music (even Adele).

11. Thank you for putting up with my annoying habits.

12. Thank you for staying up and talking with me until 3 a.m.

13. Thank you for forgiving me.

14. Thank you for giving me piggybacks when I'm tired.

15. Thank you for surprising me and knowing that the little things matter the most.

16. Thank you for listening to me rant.

17. Thank you for giving the best advice.

18. Thank you for writing me letters.

20. Thank you for laughing and being silly with me when I need to be cheered up.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
