With Thanksgiving around the corner and football season slowly (and sadly) coming to an end, Penn Staters have an incredible amount to be thankful for... and our recent game victories don't even scratch the surface. Sure, we're beyond hype to be climbing up the rankings every single week (but whose counting, right?) and continuously excelling in academics, but the list doesn't stop there. From the bomb food, to the top notch entertainment, to the one-of-a-kind Happy Valley atmosphere, we are especially thankful to be Penn Staters this Thanksgiving and every Thanksgiving. So let's give thanks to these 24 things this holiday season:
1. WE'RE IN THE TOP TEN BABY!!!
#8 in the charts but #1 in our hearts.
2. Kanye performed here this year.
Sooooo like we win. End of story.
3. A semester full of unforgettable riots.
The clown riot and Ohio State riot may or may not have been our peak.
4. For the football players doing the most dope mannequin challenge.
Honestly, don't even try to compete because our team completely crushed it.
5. Willard preacher
Yes, even you Gary. He's 100% out of his mind but who else would entertain us on our way in and out of class by reminding us of our long list of sins?
6. Thon, our most important cause, is in THREE months.
The day we've all been waiting for. The cause we've been pouring our heart and soul into every canning weekend, every thonvelope, every fundraiser, is almost here.
7. Post-win free Dunkin Monday's
Admit it, this free drink was the best part of your week and singe-handedly got you through those post-weekend feels.
8. Pokey stix
No, we will never be over these. Yes, we will always be thankful for them after a long night out.
9. Canyon pizza
And if we're gonna be thankful for Gumby's, it's only fair that we are thankful for Canyon too. And more specifically, for their dollar slices that keep our bank accounts intact.
10. The new Target and H&M
Two more places to shop in walking distance of campus? Thank you shopping gods.
11. McLanahan's
Let's not forget the OG downtown store though. McLannie's is everyone's go-to whether it's a last minute tailgate shirt, chaser, snack or life necessity.
12. Post-tailgate Chipotle trips
Okay, who am I kidding? Chipotle is not limited to after tailgates but it's guaranteed to always hits the spot on those game days.
13. Berkey Creamery
I know it's getting tundra-like and all lately, but that's no excuse to not eat ice cream. We may not always show it, but we will always be thankful for the gigantic scoops they graciously give us.
14. Ken's Best Wurst
The cheap, late-night dog that fuels you for the night or leaves you feeling satisfied on your way home from frat-land. Thank you for all that you do, Ken.
15. Having a Starbucks around every corner.
Never has a Penn State student ever had a problem finding somewhere close with caffeine. With its multiple locations, us coffee lovers are so thankful every day.
16. Always counting on scoring free food somewhere on campus.
Because that's one less thing we have to buy to feed ourselves on a broke college student budget.
17. Lion cash
Truly nothing makes a student happier than seeing the words "Lion Cash accepted here."
18. Order up
These delivery students may seem like ordinary people, but really they are our food heroes. Thankful for the people who satisfy my cravings and for the app that makes my life a million times easier.
19. Hub salads
Seriously though, where/what else would we eat for lunch everyday? It's a staple and a lifestyle all wrapped up in one.
20. Wegman's
It's not like the best supermarket in the whole world or anything. Thankful for you only being an uber ride away.
21. Farmer's market
You make our Tuesday's and Friday's a whole lot brighter.
22. Game day chicken baskets
Can you even imagine going to a game and not getting the famous chicken basket with all of your friends? Didn't think so.
23. Old main
It's literally the place to be and we will be forever grateful for its photogenic ways and mesmerizing sunsets over the years.
24. Calling Happy Valley your home.
Dorothy was right-- there's no place like home. When it all comes down to it, thankful doesn't even begin to describe how we feel to be Penn Staters each and every day, for four years and for a lifetime.
