Summer vacation is what every student dreams of. From the first day of school until the final bell rings on the last day, we live for the summer days spent by the pool with our friends. We spent the entire school year wishing for the hot summer nights circled around bonfires. Well, that summer that you dream of every year hits you a little differently after your freshman year of college, maybe even the summer before. There's no time for all the fun and games you wished for and the real world comes down on you like a ton of bricks. Here's what college students really have to look forward to this summer.
1. Working 40 hours a week, every week, for the whole entire summer.
2. Getting a second job on top of that.
3. Taking summer classes and trying to stay caught up.
4. Being away from college friends.
5. Finally having a day off, but none of your friends do.
6. Having a curfew again.
7. Having to pack up all of your stuff just to repack it in 3 months.
8. A non-existent social life.
9. Trying to make as much money as possible in preparation for the next 9 months.
10. Looking at high schoolers Instagram pictures like, "Wow, I wish I was you right now."
11. Missing your college life and all the freedom that comes along with it.
12. And the 2 a.m. pizza deliveries.
13. Missing school, even though you never thought you would say that.
14. Never getting to catch up on the sleep you thought you would get while you were home.
15. "Oh yeah, I was supposed to do that."
16. Forgetting to eat.
17. Trying to prepare everything for school in the fall.
18. Doing odd jobs and such to make as much extra money as possible.
19. Not being able to spend any of it because you need to save.
20. Missing your college town and your favorite food spots.
21. Not always having someone close by to go visit or talk to.
22. Questioning if college is really worth all this. (everyday)
23. Deciding that it is.
24. Counting down the days until you're back again.
