The last few years have been fun. You've gotten into college, or started a good job. You've spent money before you've earned it, and you've worked your tail off to earn it back. Not to mention, you've started to dress differently. But these things aren't the only things that you have noticed a change in, maybe you've started to act more your age.
1. Sleep has become your best friend.
It doesn't sound quite as appealing to stay up till 3 a.m. on the internet or watching Netflix. Bed at or before midnight? Sounds good to me.
2. You're getting asked out for drinks or coffee instead of to "hang out sometime".
Wow, a guy or girl wants to go out in public with you right off the bat.
3. You have a folder on your gmail for your work emails.
Organization people, don't want to be that one person who accidentally deletes the schedule or shift change. Or worse, your pay stub.
4. Shopping to decorate your apartment or house has become a new favorite pastime.
IKEA or Target, anyone?
5. Your body is aching and creaking.
You're making sounds when getting off the couch, and naturally, expecting something to pop.
6. You don't feel the need to go out both Friday and Saturday night.
One, that's a lot of money. Two, I have things to take care of that don't include spending Sunday with a raging hangover.
7. You actually do laundry before you're down to your last pair of underwear.
Imagine, a full closet, only a few items piled in your laundry basket...
8. Job hunting isn't a thing you do just because you're low on money for cheap alcohol and more clothes.
You have rent to pay, food for your pet, food for yourself, toilet paper...$8 an hour a couple times a week just isn't going to cut it anymore.
9. You actually want to keep a clean house.
You've seen the light. You don't want someone to come over and see your apartment in disarray. God forbid they know you live there.
10. You're really proud of your new kitchen appliances (and the food you make with them).
Yes, I did need this food processor. I deserve this food processor. Look, I made dip.
11. You are the one paying for said appliances.
Did I just prioritize this over that concert? You bet.
12. Candles. Oil diffusers.
It needs to smell like vanilla and flowers in here ALWAYS. THERE'S NO OTHER WAY.
13. You run errands on an almost daily basis.
I need to go to the bank, buy dog food, take the dog to the groomers, take my friend to work today...did I forget to buy more paper towels?
14. You bought a real vacuum cleaner.
That Handy Vac just doesn't get everything up. Ugh.
15. You and your friends discuss politics and finances more than who slept with who last night.
There's room for everything.
16. You're filing your own taxes, and anxiously waiting that tax return.
Where's my money? I'm going to lunch as soon as that puppy comes in.
17. You don't recognize everything on the radio anymore.
What the hell is this? Turning Spotify back on pronto.
18. You like listening to the morning shows on the radio.
Bert Show. All morning every morning.
19. Every time you get on Facebook you are without a doubt going to see an engagement or baby announcement.
Oh look, more people getting further ahead in life than me.
20. FOMO is becoming a thing of the past.
Lol, I'm good fam.
21. You've become blunt.
Yeah, actually you did mess up.
22. You're thinking about a more realistic career.
Yeah dreams are important, but everyone has to start somewhere.
23. You're starting to take care of your body.
Maybe it's not in your best interest to keep eating little debbies and downing Coke whenever you feel like it, and maybe you should go to the gym. Not a bad idea.
24. Even though it's scary, it's meant to be.
We all have to grow up, sometime.
