22 Taylor Swift Lyrics That Speak To The Soul

Taylor Swift is constantly encouraging listeners to speak up or perhaps, as her album puts it, “speak now.” She is an advocate for saying how you feel, taking risks and going out on a limb.

In real life, saying the right thing at the right moment is beyond crucial. So crucial, in fact, that most of us start to hesitate for fear of saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. But lately what I've begun to fear more than that is letting the moment pass without saying anything. — Taylor Swift

I, myself, have really started to take this advice to heart. But sometimes, you just can’t find the courage or even the words. That’s where the lyrics come in. I admire Taylor as a lyricist immensely and often find myself listening to parts of her songs over and over because I feel as if she was putting to words my personal feelings, those ones that I couldn’t explain.

Here are, fittingly, 22 of Taylor’s greatest one liners:

For Falling In Love:

1. “Our song is the way you laugh." — "Our Song" on "Taylor Swift" (2006)

2. “Of all the girls tossing rocks at your window, I’ll be the one waiting there even when it’s cold." — "Hey Stephen" on "Fearless" (2008)

3. “It’s been occurring to me I’d like to hang with you for my whole life." — "Stay, Stay, Stay" on "Red" (2012)

4. “I don’t wanna dance, if I’m not dancing with you." — "Holy Ground" on "Red" (2012)

For Frustration:

5. “Forever going with the flow, but you’re friction." — "Treacherous" on "Red" (2012)

6. “I say ‘I hate you,’ we break up. You call me, I love you." — "We Are Never Ever Ever Getting Back Together" on "Red" (2012)

7. “Words, how little they mean when you’re a little too late." — "Sad, Beautiful, Tragic" on "Red" (2012)

For Heartbreak:

8. “Well maybe it’s me and my blind optimism to blame…" — "Dear John" on "Speak Now" (2010)

9. “I’ve never heard silence quite this loud." — "The Story of Us" on "Speak Now" (2010)

10. “All that I know is I don’t know how to be something you miss." — "The Last Kiss" on "Speak Now" (2010)

11. “You call me up again just to break me like a promise, so casually cruel in the name of being honest." — "All Too Well" on "Red" (2012)

12. “Let me remind you, this was what you wanted. You ended it. You were all I wanted." — "All You Had To Do Was Stay" on "1989" (2014)

For Hope:

13. “Maybe this is wishful thinking, probably mindless dreaming, but if we loved again, I swear I’d love you right." — "Back to December" on "Speak Now" (2012)

14. “Please don’t be in love with someone else. Please don’t have somebody waiting on you." — "Enchanted" on "Speak Now" (2012)

15. “Say you’ll remember me." — "Wildest Dreams" on "1989" (2014)

For Moving On:

16. “So watch me strike a match on all my wasted time." — "Picture to Burn" on "Taylor Swift" (2006)

17. “I’ve found time can heal most anything and you just might find who you’re supposed to be." — "Fifteen" on "Fearless" (2008)

18. “I think it’s strange you think I’m funny 'cause he never did." — "Begin Again" on "Red" (2012)

19. “When I was drowning, that’s when I could finally breathe." — "Clean" on "1989" (2014)

For Empowerment:

20. “Cause I’m not your princess, this ain't our fairytale." — "White Horse" on "Fearless" (2008)

21. “Sophistication isn’t what you wear or who you know or pushing people down to get to where you wanna go." — "Better Than Revenge" on "Speak Now" (2012)

22. “We are too busy dancing to get knocked off our feet." — "New Romantics" on "1989" (2014)

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
