1. When you tell people you're from Dallas, you immediately get the question, "where in Dallas?"
And if you're like me, you just say "Uh, like Dallas, Dallas."
2. You know at least one Plano West kid.
There's so many of them. You can't escape.
3. You've been to a country concert (even if you don't like country).
Dallas has so many concerts, and so many are country. Country music is the bane of my existence, and yet I have been to not one but four country concerts in Dallas.
4. At least one, probably more, of your new college friends live within 20 to 40 minutes of you.
5. You have friends at A&M and have probably been to college station at least once.
Yes friends, I have been to the other side, and so have you. There's... not much in College Station, except like five very close friends of yours, so yes you probably know that from experience.
6. You're used to thunderstorms and tornado watches.
Weather here is trippy. You're used to it.
7. You own cowboy boots.
8. You're used to driving everywhere.
You can't walk anywhere here.
9. Every other city feels kinda cluttered and cramped.
Everything is bigger in Texas, and there is definitely space out here to spare.
10. If you're planning a beach trip, you don't suggest Galveston.
It sounds like a good idea to go to a beach that is only a drive away, but you have been to Galveston before and know when the spring break trip planning starts, Galveston is going to be vetoed real quickly.
11. You have some kind of Dallas Cowboys garb.
You either love them or you hate them, but either way you have that one shirt someone gave you one time.
12. You've had something fried from the state fair.
It's like an initiation rite - you have had something that sounds like it should never ever be fried at the state fair and it was delicious.
13. You're used to driving at least 2 hours to get to another legit city.
None of this quick day-trip to another city crap, Dallas kids can't do that without committing to a +2 hour drive.
14. You can swim.
The summers here are miserably hot, the only perks are swimming and tanning.
15. You didn't know what HEB was before you left Dallas.
That's right everyone, we don't have HEB here! I don't know why but it's true, I had no idea what it was before I got to college.
16. You're Tex-Mex spoiled.
Dallas is like a huge hub for amazing Tex-Mex food, it's a staple and it's delicious.
17. You know winters in Dallas can actually be pretty cold.
Northerners won't believe you, but winters in Dallas can be bitterly cold.
18. You don't know many things for sure, but you KNOW that Dallas is better than Houston.
Someone fight me on this I dare you.
19. You're used to the heat and your go to outfit is a t-shirt and Nike's.
20. We don't ride horses, damn it.
A population of people refuses to accept that Texans do not ride horses to school and otherwise. We don't live in a desert, we live in a city. Thanks.
21. I do not have a southern accent, sorry.
People still ask me if I'm from Texas why I don't have a Southern accent, and it's because I'm from Dallas!
