When I tell people I have eight other siblings, they respond by saying, “Wow. How does your family celebrate Christmas?” And that's the response I typically expect. But I don’t usually get the response, “How many brothers do you have?” Well, I have four brothers and growing up with them was not as easy as you would expect. They can give you such a hard time with the way you dress, why you are wearing so much makeup, and whom you are going to hang out with. But I now want to thank them for everything they have taught me and put me through these past 21 years.
1. Thank you for teaching me how a man should really treat a woman.
2. Thank you for giving me the strength I needed when I wanted to break down and cry.
3. Thank you for teaching me everything I need to know about sports.
4. Thank you for giving me the best advice possible. Even if you were not sure it was the best.
5. Thank you for being protective and embarrassing me while doing so.
6. Thank you for making fun of me and giving me the opportunity to make fun of you back.
7. Thank you for making me laugh when I’m down.
8. Thank you for surprising me with breakfast on Sunday mornings.
9. Thank you for supporting my every decision, even if you don’t agree.
10. Thank you for teaching me how to fish and then making me take the fish off the hook for you.
11. Thank you for teaching me cheap alcohol should never be an option.
12. Thank you for having girlfriends that I can hang out with and talk to.
13. Thank you for teaching me how to change a flat tire.
14. Thank you for being my go-to guys when I want to go to a sporting event.
15. Thank you for teaching me that there is better food out there than just Chinese and pizza.
16. Thank you for binge watching scary movies and eating junk food with me.
17. Thank you for liking my boyfriend because, if not, that would be a serious problem.
18. Thank you for spoiling me on birthdays and Christmas.
19. Thank you for giving me nicknames that will stick with me for the rest of my life. Like “Elf” the one name I can’t get rid of.
20. Thank you for teaching me to be successful in life and live out of my comfort zone.
21. Thank you for all that you do for me.
This list of thank yous could go on forever. There’s nothing like having older brothers to pave the way for you. To teach you everything you need to know about life and about men. To pick you up when you're down and love you unconditionally. I don’t know what I would do without you guys.
Sincerely,
Your Sister
