21 Things We Should Be More Grateful For
Career Realism

There are some things in life that all of us take for granted. With the fast-paced, busy schedules, it is natural that this happens. As understandable as it is, it is important to be grateful for what we are so very lucky to have and experience. Although, sometimes, gratitude is forgotten, we must remember how important it is because without a lot of the people and things that we are most grateful for, we would not be here, doing the things we are doing.

1. Mom: Our moms do things for us every day that we have come to expect simply because they are our moms. In reality those are the things we should be most grateful for. The fact that we are even lucky enough to call someone mom deserves some gratitude.

2. The beach: Those of us who have grown up on the coast always expect the ocean to be a 20-minute drive away; we expect that place of beauty and clarity to always be there but we shouldn’t think of anything as permanent.

3. Our hometowns: Our hometowns are loaded places with memories, good and bad, often family, and sometimes we overlook how much they have shaped the individual that we are today.

4. The sun: Just think about how happy you get when it’s nice outside and I think you will realize that sunshine is something we should all say a little thank you for.

5. Dad: This is the most important man in your life, if you still have him to protect you are lucky and you should let him know that you understand that.

6. Brothers: Your older brother would beat anyone up who messed with you and your little brother would try to. We should thank them before that happens.

7. Sisters: Your younger sister will probably look up to you as to her, you are a giant that could probably almost save the world and your older sister will probably just try and set you up for success, mostly because she doesn’t want her name ruined, but still success is success.

8. Best friend: Some people never find their soul mate of a best friend, so if you have, tell them how important they are to you.

9. Ice cream: Because it is a solution to every problem and a perfect way to celebrate every success.

10. Laughter: It makes you live longer. So laugh a lot, often.

11. Mistakes: Everybody makes them.

12. Ourselves: The thing is, there is no other you and if nothing else, that is what makes you beautiful and powerful.

13. Time: We can’t go forward or backward and things were different yesterday and they will change tomorrow so appreciate the time you have.

14. Education: Some people can’t even complain about homework.

15. Love: All we need is a little loving.

16. Diversity: Be accepting, it will get you further and teach you more about life. Our differences are what make us all us. Be thankful for those.

17. Freedom: Over three million have died fighting for this.

18. Our bodies: You only have one you so take what you can get and make the best of it.

19. Homes: If you have a room that you can complain about cleaning or laundry that you can complain about washing, be thankful for that because there are so many people that would wash your laundry every day if it meant they could have a jacket.

20. Jobs: Work sucks, but being unemployed sucks even more.

21. The ordinary things: It’s the little things that we forget about. They escape our mind because we have grown to expect them, but that shouldn’t be the case. Be appreciative and be thankful. People would love to do what you’re complaining about and have what you have come to expect.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
