35 Things To Be Happy About
Emma Kindsvatter

It is very common for anyone to get wrapped up in their everyday life, feeling trapped in the same routine. It never hurts to remind ourselves of things that make us happy. Here is a compiled list of some of my favorite things that remind me there's a beautiful tomorrow.

Happiness is...

1. Taking a mental health day.

2. Receiving a letter in the mail.

3. Kisses on the cheek.

4. Having the most amazing friend group in the world.

5. Feeling confident in your own body.

6. Treating yourself.

7. Spending time with your family.

8. The smell of blueberry muffins.

9. Wearing your favorite outfit.

10. Finding a new passion.

11. Sleeping in.

12. Sunshine showers after a cloudy week.

13. Genuinely laughing.

14. Doing something you thought was impossible.

15. Summer nights.

16. A really good cup of hot chocolate (or coffee for the caffeine lovers).

17. The changing colors of fall.

18. Giving a lot of hugs.

19. The sound of an ice cream truck.

20. Chips and salsa.

21. When someone laughs at your horrific joke.

22. Jamming in the car.

23. Seeing your favorite old teacher.

24. A good book.

25. Fuzzy socks.

26. First date jitters.

27. Christmas day.

28. Taking the perfect picture.

29. Napping after a long day.

30. Putting on clean pajamas and getting into new sheets.

31. Finding money you didn't know you had.

32. Getting an unexpected text from an old friend.

33. Target runs.

34. Making someone smile.

35. Knowing you are successful, beautiful, and AWESOME!

With all the potential negativity surrounding our everyday life, it is always important to find the good in everything you encounter. While this list is small and scattered, it never fails to make me remember how lucky I am to be alive today.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
