These are typically posts someone makes to celebrate their birthday. My birthday isn't for another month, but because I have plans for my articles for the month of June, I figured I'd do this early, because it's been a long year and I've learned a lot.
1. It's better not to force it when something doesn't work out.
Some things, even if they seem like a good idea to begin with, just don't work. You have to let them go.
2. Taking chances almost always leads to something good...
3. ...But sometimes it doesn't, and that's okay.
4. It's impossible to know how much support you have until you let people see who you really are.
Before I came out last week, I never could've predicted how many people were going to be supportive about it. It blew my mind.
5. It does no good to make excuses for people.
6. No matter how clear you think you're being, whatever you're trying to get across could still be going over someone's head.
7. Procrastination is not your friend.
Even if you work well under pressure.
8. Sometimes you have to listen to yourself above everyone else.
9. But sometimes you will need a little push to do what's best for you.
10. Little steps add up to big accomplishments.
11. The most important lessons are going to taste like cough syrup.
You're not going to want to accept them, but you'll have to, for your own good.
12. Even your best efforts will sometimes be futile. Be content with having tried.
13. Being afraid of the world doesn't protect you, it just ensures that you don't live.
14. Comparing yourself to other people will rarely do anything good for you.
15. Routine is everything.
I am completely useless without my routines. It's the only way I get things done.
16. When you make the decision to bite your tongue, expect consequences.
17. It's okay to outgrow things.
18. More often than not, a situation will not end up as badly as you think.
19. Change is good.
20. Anyone worth speaking to is not going to shun you just for speaking to them.
21. Life is a marathon, not a race.
We will all get where we're meant to be, when we're meant to be there.
