21 Goals For My 21st Year

21 has been my lucky number for as long as I can remember.

So, I'm hoping my 21st year is a lucky one. I've been anticipating this year and this birthday for years, and I'm so excited to begin the countdown to March 11th begins.

Here are my 21 goals for my 21st year:

1. Teach a successful lesson.

2. Make more time for activities that improve mental health.

3. Budget money just a bit better.

5. Create a 5-year plan.

6. Embrace spontaneity.

7. Love deeper.

8. STOP internalizing stress.

9. Ask more questions.

10. Be more confident.

11. Smile more.

12. Become a better listener.

13. Stop assuming.

14. Stop putting more on my plate than I can handle.

15. Invest in a go-to, spunky lipstick.

16. Wear a bikini with confidence.

17. Make life simpler.

18. Be honest with myself and others.

19. Always be the better person in uncomfortable situations.

20. Accept criticism positively.

21. Love myself.

I hope his year will be one for the books.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
