As for how 2016 started, ended, and everything in between, 2017 is the new hope we've all been waiting for. And it's officially here. I haven't felt this positive about a new year in a long time, but cheers for a brighter new year and new resolutions, (to hopefully follow).
To start off, the start to the new semester is almost here and I'm counting down the hours. Last semester wasn't the greatest especially since I had less to do in the theatre department for family reasons. This semester, I already have my assignment and I've never been so excited to start late night rehearsals again and those early meetings. I won't let stuff outside of theatre distract my focus from who I want to be in this department or my dreams for that matter.
As for my classes, I schedule them for only two days a week. That means after the theatre production is over, it's less driving and that's more money back in the bank. Also considering I live well over an hour from campus, a major goal of mine this year is to finally get an apartment closer to campus. The long drives I have now are taking a toll and it's high time I start thinking about my well being, physically and mentally.
A more cliche goal is to get to gym more. At my Portland apartment I had the convince of walking everywhere and the gym was just downstairs. However, in Michigan, I need to drive to most places and I don't have the luxury of a gym near by. But I need to stop making excuses and get to working out more.
To end the list of goals, it's time to get to the more personal, deep down goals. After getting into improv out in Portland, I gained confidence and happiness that I thought I would never find. But in Michigan I don't know where to go to experience that again. This year and hopefully beyond, I plan to either start an improv group or go to an improv show regularly. And the last and but certainly not least, goal for 2017 is to spend more time with family. And I don't think there is a need for an explanation on that one.
I hope everyone has a prosperous New Year. We all deserve one considering what 2016 brought. It's all over now, 2016 is now in the past. Keep your head up, things will be okay.
