I think everyone can agree that the 2016 election is one of the most polarized in recent history. Those voting for Trump deny the other two candidates' validity. Those voting for Hillary, well, who is voting for Hillary? And those voting for Bernie, even though he has already decidedly lost the democratic primary, are very adamant about the change they want, that Bernie has promised.

I promise that in this article I will do my best to remain neutral and not favor any one party. There is a reason why this election is so polarized and favoring one will not help me explain it.

That being said, If you are left wondering what my thoughts are on the three candidates, they are simply as follows: Donald Trump is not fit for office, Hillary Clinton is corrupt, but so are most politicians, Bernie Sanders won't get much done in office, but at least I agree with his ideals.

So, let's talk about Donald Trump. Donald Trump is by definition a hate monger. He is using the unspoken popular public hate of Mexicans and Muslims to his advantage. When asked questions he does not know how to answer he simply reverts to these topics. That being said, I do think it would be a good change of pace to have a successful businessman as president. He would know how to manage the economy well and could possibly help alleviate some of the debt our country has accrued. However, I do not think that Donald Trump is fit in that regard either. He has gained wealth through schemes and lies rather than actual monetary prowess. His Trump University is a lot of money for relatively no information, his various hotels, shops, chains, and whatnot are usually just copies of others' unique ideas.

Hillary Clinton is much better than this. She would be fit for the presidency, she is just horribly corrupt. She would probably get some things done, although not many due to her already bad track record in the White House. She is presidential material. She knows how to run a country as a politician, she has years of experience in the political system and in the White House, and she is a generally pleasant person most of the time. It would also be a great first to have a woman president. That being said, she is also horribly corrupt, more than most politicians. She has a massive FBI investigation going on right now about her that could get her indicted, but it won't, at this point they're probably just stalling. There are rumors that she is a lesbian and that she only had her child for public opinion purposes, and she is notorious for flip flopping on her opinions on things, as she is basically a slave to her party and to big banks (in the words of Bernie Sanders).

Bernie Sanders is a saint by comparison to these two. He has tried his best this election to not make any attacks on the other candidates. He has made a few, but nowhere near the amount the others have made. He has always stayed true to his ideals, even if they were unpopular at the time, and he has a magnificent political track record. However, if put in office the truth is he probably would not get much done. Even though he holds the record for amount of bills passed in the Senate, I do not believe that he would get very much done in office. His ideals are too progressive for this presidency to allow past. His bills would probably get shut down in the House and the Senate mostly every time he tried to pass something. His public relations have also been lacking. He has refrained from speaking about them very much, so nobody knows very well how he would deal with them.

If you've made it this far, thank you. I've tried to provide positives and negatives about each of the popular candidates as they currently stand. Now it's time to see why certain groups of people are attracted to these candidates.

Let us again start with Donald Trump. Being the hate monger that he is, he sadly appeals to a lot of people through blind rage. giving the public a common enemy to blame for everything, even if this is in no way true, gives them hope, strength, and anger which they can use in support of the hate monger himself. This is the core reason why most people are so adamant about Donald Trump. As stated above, he is using lies and schemes to get ahead, as he is known for. Those who don't know or realize this however are at risk. Trump also appeals to those working class Americans who want to keep more of their money. He promises them that Mexicans are the problem and that if we get rid of them all of their problems will be fixed.

Hillary Clinton, on the other hand, attracts a large portion of the female vote. This is quite obvious because they want a female president and she has a very good shot of winning the election. However, I do not think this is right, because if you are a true feminist, then you support gender equality. Gender equality is not voting for Hillary just because she is female, it is voting for the best candidate regardless of gender. However, that is their opinion and I will not try to force them to be who they are not. People also vote for Hillary Clinton because she has been in the White House before and she is a politician who knows how to run a country. This is completely valid. Those who do not support Hillary look mostly at her bad qualities. However, she does have a fairly good track record otherwise.

Bernie Sanders is a bit easier to decode. He appeals mostly to the younger generations of America. He promises free college tuition and job security once he dissolves the big banks. However, this is not necessarily how it would work. The supporters at small, liberal arts colleges would sadly get next to nothing. I know most of them know this, but there are still some who do not understand. Free college tuition would only apply to state and government run and regulated schools. Private colleges would not be affected at all. Either way, Bernie appeals very much to the issues that all younger generations are currently facing. That is why he is so popular among them.
