School is over, and summer is finally here. As time goes on, these next few months can quickly turn boring if you have nothing to do. Don't let your summer break go to waste- read on to find out how to make the most out of your summer vacation.

1. Learn something new.

Whether it’s a new skill or a new language, summer gives you a few months to practice the technique and master the dexterity.

2. Treat yourself.

The time to detox from all the stress life has to over starts now. Relaxation has never felt so good.

3. Spend time with those you love.

This is a sure-fire way of helping you not lose touch with your friend and family over the summer. In order to keep and even strengthen your bonds, you need to go do things together.

4. Take on some projects.

Arts and crafts and Do It Yourself projects will all take time to perfect, but they definitely will be fun to try.

5. Go shopping.

Buying souvenirs, trinkets, jewelry, and even clothing can allow you to have even more fun.

6. Go outside.

You’ve stayed inside all winter, now it’s time to stay active, be healthy, and get some Vitamin D- but don’t’ forget the sunscreen.

7. Develop and hone your cooking skills.

It’s never too late to learn how to cook. Whether you’re a pro in the kitchen or a beginner, it’s a great way to bring people together- and whatever you make will taste delicious too.

8. Take a break from social media.

You don’t have to keep everyone updated on what you’re doing every single day. Sometimes the mystery of spontaneous actions are more interesting than predicable routines.

9. Get some well-needed rest.

Over the summer, we tend to disregard our previous sleep schedules and stay up later than what we might be used to. This can lead to restless nights, dragging, and will leave you in a bad mood for the rest of the day.

10. Get an internship.

Use this time to gain relevant industry work experience. The more professional experience you can get, the better. It will let you know whether you're on the right path and what sort of job you'd like to end up in.

11. Study abroad.

When studying abroad, you have the unforgettable opportunity to discover yourself while gaining an understanding of a different culture.

12. Take summer courses.

If you have the opportunity to expand your knowledge and potentially graduate earlier- why not try it out? You can go at your own pace and still have the rest of the summer to enjoy.

13. Volunteer wherever you can.

Nothing feels better than giving back to those in need. Whether overseas or on your doorstep, volunteering is always a year-round need for any community, and any form of help is appreciated greatly.

14. Save your money.

Work hard and save up your funds for any traveling expenses, bills, and school supplies you’ll need in the future. Before you know it, you’ll have enough money to do whatever you want no matter the price.

15. Keep reading.

Believe it or not, there are books out there that can be really interesting. It’s also not a bad idea to staying informed and up-to-date with what’s happening in the world around you by reading news articles.

16. Explore your hometown.

Get to know why you love the place you call “home.” Look around at what makes your city feel so welcoming.

17. Travel as much as possible.

The world is filled with breathtaking sights. Go far and wide- but never forget to witness the beauty of sunsets on a summer day.

18. Take photos.

We should all want to save the images of the memories we make. Never miss out on taking a picture of where you go and who you’re with.

19. Live for yourself.

If you want to make a change in the life you’re living- do it for yourself. Live with no regrets and do what you want to do.

20. Take risks.

The things that hold us back from every opportunity are the risks associated with them. Don’t be afraid to make changes in your life, and to strive for happiness. You only live once, so don't take it for granted.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
