Summer Do's 2016

Summer break is the time to relax and enjoy yourself with friends and family. Here are some do's to keep in mind when wondering what things you can do with your spare time this summer.

1. Go on vacation

Whether it be with your family or a road trip with a few of your best friends, it is important to go on vacation and relax, even just for a week! This is the only time of year you can do this and not have to worry about school or other obligations. And take advantage of the fact that it is summer. You could be gone for a whole month if you wanted.

2. Go to the beach

Sure you can go to the beach any time, but of course you have to go during the summer. The weather is nice, the sun is shinning, and you can work on that tan you've been wanting all year. Just be sure to get an even tan; it'll help enhance your overall summer glow.

3. Pamper yourself

Get your toes and nails done if your funds allow it. Or if not, take the time to do it yourself. Summer is probably the most your feet will see daylight all year. So why not have them looking cute and be able to match your summer glow?

4. Develop a summer makeup routine

Summer is known for being hot and for making us all darker. This makes way for you to give your regular makeup routine a rest and go for a more natural look. Let's all be honest, it can get a bit too hot during the summer to have a full face everyday. Try out different products and maybe go for a lighter coverage. This will still give you the look you want while giving your pores a bit of a break.

5. Experiment with your hair and wardrobe

Summer is the time to really experiment without having to worry about being at school if your hair doesn't come out the way you wanted. Try out that new hair cut or get those highlights you always wanted. If it doesn't work out, you still have time to change it before school starts, and it is always nice to feel brand new over the summer.

6. Rekindle those friendships

It can be super hard being away at school and not seeing your besties as much as you're used to. Take this time to rekindle those friendships and give them a little TLC. Your friends have missed you as much as you have missed them.

7. Do the things you've been wanting to do during the year but had no time for

Take that panting class, go rock climbing, take up a new sport, or discover a new hobby. Summer is the time where you can finally do all those things you said you would and put off; you may surprise yourself and find a new passion.

8. Take time to self reflect

Summer is the time that you can finally clear your mind. Maybe take some time to reflect on the year or plan goals that you have for yourself for the next upcoming school year.

Summer can be the best time of the year. Let's take advantage of this time and get the most out of it!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
