20 Thoughts You Have On The First Day Of Class

We all know that sitting through that very first class of the semester is not particularly exhilarating. Let's take a look at what a typical student might be thinking while trying to endure this dull experience.

1. "This building is conveniently close to Starbucks."

This means you'll be well-caffeinated and probably five minutes late to class every day. Oh well.

2. "The classroom is on the third floor? Perfect way to work off that Starbucks."

Also, you'll drag yourself into the classroom every morning while trying to catch your breath from that strenuous journey up the stairs.

3. "Which seat should I claim for the rest of the semester?"

This is a very important decision, because everyone hates the kid who tries to switch it up mid-semester. Choose wisely.

4. "Oh look, the professor has a Starbucks cup--seems promising."

You guys have something important in common, so he MUST be awesome. This is a good sign, right?

5. "The hottie who just walked in might make this class a bit more bearable."

You might have to actually take a shower before class and wear something other than sweatpants.

6. "Was it really necessary for the professor to stare at his watch until 8:30 sharp and then immediately shut the door?"

He seems a little intense. Hopefully the Starbucks line doesn't get too long before this class.

7. "Here we go with the syllabus. I already spot three typos."

If we're expected to turn in our best work, how come this professor didn't take the time to proofread his own aesthetically unsatisfying syllabus?

8. "No curves on exams? I definitely take back my earlier judgment based on the Starbucks cup."

Does he understand that this is college? I usually depend on the curve for survival.

9. "It's cute that he thinks I'm going to spend $120 on a textbook."

We won't be able to do the homework without it? Challenge accepted.

10. "The hottie is texting someone. Is it a girl? Is he single? Should I say something to him?"

Maybe he has his name written down somewhere for social media stalking purposes. I'll pretend to go to the restroom and walk by his desk.

11. "This girl sitting in the front row and asking questions every two minutes needs to chill."

These people are the worst. The paper is due in six weeks; do you really need to know immediately whether it should be done in MLA or APA style?

12. "What should I have for lunch?"

The most important question of any day.

13. "Group project in November? I officially hate this professor."

I stand firmly by my belief that there is nothing in this world more dreadful than a group project. There just isn't. There can't be.

14. "Huh, my nail polish is chipping off."

You will now be unable to focus on anything other than your imperfectly polished nails for the rest of the class period.

15. "Quizzes every Friday morning? Goodbye, Thursday nights."

A professor who thinks that his class is the only thing you have going on in your life is both delusional and heartless.

16. "What should I have for dinner?"

The other most important question of the day.

17. "There are millions of people named Evan on Facebook. Who is the hottie from class?"

The worst is when they use their middle name instead of their last name. Make it easy on us.

18. "Class ends in one minute and he's talking like he still has my attention."

Is he new or something? Everyone knows the last five minutes of class are for collecting your thoughts and packing up your bag.

19. "It's now 9:22…oh hell no."

Another classic example of professors disrespecting your time. If he needs 52 minutes to teach a syllabus, what is he going to do with legitimate material?

20. "Finally, he's done talking. Maybe I should make another stop at Starbucks?"

Have a little self-control.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
