20 Things to Do to Get Through a Bad Week
Sunshine and Daisy

We all have those days, and sometimes those days turn into weeks. Everyone reacts to it differently, and everyone needs different remedies to deal with it. I just got done with one of those weeks and this is how I did it, maybe it’ll help you too.

  1. Talk about it with your loved ones. They’ll understand and help you through it.
  2. Be grateful for your loved ones. It’s rewarding to say it.
  3. Do something nice for them. To remind them why they have you.
  4. Take their suggestions for dealing with the hard times. And try them.
  5. Ask your them to do something fun with you to take your mind off it. But make time to deal with the struggles too.
  6. Keep your head up. Its hard but you have to. Tough times don’t last, tough people do.
  7. Write a list of everything stressing you out, and right next to write what you have to do to handle it. Check them off as you go, so when you’re done you have something to look at for your ccomplishments.
  8. Write about what’s making it a bad week, or who and even directly to who. If you’re a writer like me I’m sure you’ll understand the joy of writing.
  9. Breathe when you start panicking. It really helps even if takes time.
  10. Lay down and close your eyes for short periods of time. When you rest briefly, you’ll be able to handle obstacles easier.
  11. Listen to your favorite kinds of music. Or songs with uplifting lyrics, these are my recommendations:
    1. TNT- AC/DC
    2. Champion- Fall Out Boy
    3. Sorry Not Sorry- Demi Lovato
    4. We Own It- 2 Chainz & Wiz Khalifa
    5. Meant to Be- Bebe Rexha ft. Florida Georgia Line
    6. I Defy- Tonight Alive
    7. Drag Me Down- One Direction
    8. Lighters- Bad Meets Evil ft. Bruno Mars
    9. Believer- Imagine Dragons
  12. Dress well, in whatever makes you feel good.
  13. Take care of your hygiene. That means so many things and I shouldn’t have to explain.
  14. Exercise. Your brain releases dopamine and can rid of you of the stomach knots and anxiety from the events causing you to stress.
  15. Eat healthy and in reasonable portions. Stress eating is in fact real but it doesn’t help. You’ll have better energy from healthy foods to deal with the stress
  16. Sleep. Could be all you think about in times like that, could be hard to get in times like that, but you need it. Make time for it. If its hard, here are some ideas:
    1. Self Hypnosis
    2. Count Backwards from 100
    3. Blink quickly for 30 seconds at a time
  17. Avoid alcohol and other depressants. Tempting as they are, they’re not going to help. They’ll push you in the opposite direction.
  18. Ask for help. From whoever or whatever it may be, there is nothing wrong with it.
  19. Reflect on other tough times you had. If you made it through those, you can make it through these.
  20. Smile. Not to hide the pain but to break it.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
