Having your first roommate is an experience like no other. Nowadays, we find our roommates on Facebook groups. Prospective students write posts in the group saying something along the lines of “Hey, I’m ______ and I’m majoring in ____. I am a hard worker, but really want to have fun in college as well. Message me if we are similar!” You’ll be messaging a bunch of girls and having semi awkward conversations until you decide who you want to room with during your freshman year of college. Like everyone, I heard horror stories about roommates, so I was pretty anxious to see how it would work out. From the very beginning, I knew my roommate and I were going to be really good roommates and friends, but I had no idea that we were going to become as close as we are today.
So many things I could say, and so many thank yous I should say more often.
So here it is:
1.Thank you for letting me wear your clothes (really love your Patagonia)
2.Thank you for listening to me rant and tell the same stories over and over again
3.Thank you for our mental breakdowns about classes, but then encouraging me to keep going
4.Thank you for our mutual love for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches
5.Thank you for putting up with my love for Fetty Wap and Justin Bieber
6.Thank you for blasting our favorite songs in our dorm and singing at the top of our lungs. What are quiet hours?
7.Thank you for always helping me with what to say when I’m texting a guy
8.Thank you for being my partner in crime
9.Thank you for our late night talks when we talk about anything and everything
10.Thank you for being a nursing major with me… I really couldn’t do it without you
11.Thank you for encouraging me to eat healthy and go to the gym
12.Thank you for pigging out with me when it's necessary... Dominos and Ben and Jerry’s are a must
13.Thank you for helping me pick out what to wear before we go out… even if it means changing 100 times
14.Thank you for doing absolutely everything with me, whether it’s walking to class or going to main street (and sometimes matching…. Not on purpose we swear)
15.Thank you for our boy talks (They suck... end of story)
16.Thank you for watching "The Bachelor" with me… Even when you think its dumb
17.Thank you for always knowing what to say and getting me in a better mood
18.Thank you for laughing things off with me
19.Thank you for your kindness and for being such a genuine person
20.Thank you for being my person and the closest person I have to my sister
There are so many other things I am thankful for that I can’t even put into words. You have made my freshman year better than I ever imagined and I am so happy to not only call you my roommate, but my best friend.
