One of the most underrated and under appreciated jobs is that of a server. The amount of crap that a server deals with in one night alone is not for the faint of heart. As a waitress myself I've had the "privilege" of experiencing the service industry firsthand, behind the scenes. At a time so near the holidays we forget to remember those people that work long nights and days, the people who on New Year's Eve aren't with their friends at parties, but are instead waiting on people who are. This is for my fellow coworkers and all the people who work in restaurants, the people who deserve more appreciation, a thank you, and (always) a 20 percent tip.
1. Do not wave me down from across the restaurant.
2. You start saying "have a good weekend" all throughout the week.
3. There's nothing better than an order mess up... free food.
4. Line cooks are some of the flirtiest people you'll meet.
5. There's more drama within the restaurant staff then there is in a high school.
6. PSA: Do NOT hook up with a coworker.
7. Payday = time to blow some money on drinks with coworkers.
8. People who come in 10 minutes to close and stay FOREVER.
9. When you hear that an item is 86'd you think "86 me please."
10. Bless the heavy drinkers for that bar tab.
11. "what's in the salad?" ... it's on the menu.
12. Side work is the worst, even when you're done, you're still not done.
13. The head chef is just a bit terrifying.
14. Family members are the best tippers.
15. There's always that one regular with the same order each time that all the servers know by heart.
16. Non-slip shoes aren't all that non-slip.
17. cash tips >>>>>>>>
18. There's always one server you can't help but crushing on (especially if he has blue eyes).
19. The people you work with are some of the nicest people you know.
20. We all strive for that 20 percent tip, and deserve it even when we have an off day.
