20 Things I Would Rather Do Than Study For Geography

Why do we need to learn about other countries if I already know so much about my own?

Ever since Elementary school, I've hated any kind of topic that is related to social studies or geography. I personally think it's boring and a waste of time. My major has absolutely nothing to do with geography. I understand we have "core classes" that are mandatory to take, but I cannot stand learning about something I truly have no interest in. My geography class is a lecture hall, and when I look in front of me, there is someone sleeping. I look behind me, there is someone sleeping. I look next to me and of course, there is someone sleeping. Clearly this class is a big yawn. So, here's a list of things that I would rather do than study for geography.

1. Read the dictionary.

2. Drink a jar of blue cheese salad dressing.

3. Put lipstick on while driving over speed bumps.

4. Vote for Hilary Clinton (Let's make America great again.)

5. Try to explain what a "frat guy" is to my grandmother.

6. Eat full pieces of chalk.

7. Study for the ACT again.

8. Be in a ocean full of sharks .

9. Drink a bottle full of vodka, thinking it was water.

10. Shave with sandpaper.

11. My friends spot my mom on a date.

12. Listen to opera for the rest of my life.

13. Be allergic to Chipotle.

14. Bathe in hot sauce.

15. Walk on broken glass.

16. My mom having an Instagram.

17. Give myself my own tattoo.

18. Have eight kids.

19. Memorize the Torah.

20. Be in a coffin with mice that have rabies.

So if you don't enjoy studying for geography, too, you might think these 20 options are better than opening that textbook.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
