20 Things You Forgot To Thank Your Mom For

Sometimes you just forget how much she’s done for you.

Life is very hectic, especially for someone like me who’s in college and literally involved in everything. My life is so busy I forget to sit down and think about how much people have done for me. My mom is one of these people. I cannot explain how much I am thankful for her and how much she has done for me. I couldn’t have come this far without her! So mom, and all mom’s out there, I thank you for…

1. Always being there for me.

Sometimes I didn’t even know when something was affecting me, but you saw right through me. I always know I can count on you to keep me real!

2. Being selfless.

You have sacrificed so much for me, probably so much more than I even know about. You’re amazing and I want to raise my children like you raised me.

3. Your opinions.

Whether it’s about clothes or what to do with my life (I’m still working on that one), your opinion is always so valuable to me! I don’t know how I decide things without you. Oh! I know, I don’t.

4. Being patient.

I totally forget things you told me five minutes ago. I am not the most reliable listener, and I don’t do it on purpose. But you just laugh at me and tell me again. I’m a lot to handle, so thanks for being patient with me.

5. Doing my hair... like all the time!

The random midnight haircuts, the daylong excavations of hair dye, or the random hairstyles I can’t figure out on my own, I appreciate it all! Like literally, what would I do without you?!

6. The random calls to help me find something.

Whether I forget the author of a specific book or the number of a friend but I know where it is in my room at home, you’ll always help me out. Whether it’s in the middle of the afternoon or late at night, you still help me find what I need.

7. Being a child with me.

Sometimes I can be five, it just happens. But you just come right along and join me. It's so much fun to be a kid again with you!

8. Always being worried about me.

When I get so busy that I forget to text you, you call to make sure I’m still alive. I’m so grateful that you care so much to check on me.

9. Being my best friend.

It’s stereotypical for a daughter to say her mom is her best friend. I know people who are not the best of friends with their mom. However, I am the stereotype in this case. You’re always there, and I know I can count on you!

10. Working so hard at what you love.

You are sometimes stressed, but you love your job and I admire that so much! You show be that you can have a great life and still do what you love.

11. Being fair.

I know sometimes it’s hard to disagree with someone you love, but you keep me honest. I know I can always count on you to tell it to me straight but be sweet about it. I need that sometimes.

12. Being as excited about silly things as I am.

You always want me to do your nails when I’m home, it's so much fun for me! And you let me, it's just great!

13. Being as weird as me.

I get it from you (and Dad), and I thank you for that. It makes life so much more interesting! I’d be so boring if I was “normal.”

14. Watching chick flicks with me when Dad’s out of town.

You grab the popcorn, I’ll grab the movie. Every girl needs her chick flick night, and we both know Dad’s not really excited about these movies!

15. Not making me the stereotypical “spoiled” only child.

I have all your attention, like most only children, but you and Dad always kept me grounded and made sure that I never became spoiled. I was lucky to have you as a mom!

16. Not fully judging my obsessions or when I fangirl.

Number one Potterhead over here, you know this. You think I’m silly for being so obsessed with Harry Potter related materials, but you let me be obsessed. I really appreciate that!

17. Your part in my journey.

My journey is not even close to being over, but thank you for being a part of it so far. It would have never been the same without you. Who knows where I’d be now?

18. Listening.

Words cannot express how much I appreciate this! I can ramble on for hours and go way off topic! But you just sit there and listen. So thank you for listening to my ramblings. Sometimes they can be hard to follow.

19. Taking care of me even when I didn’t notice you were.

Sometimes you do things for me that I don’t even know about. I feel that every mother does this. You’ve done things for me, not for the recognition, but because you love me. Thank you for thinking and caring about me all the time.

20. Giving me the best childhood EVER!

I can only think of good things when I look back on my childhood. You and Dad made it the best time ever! So thank you for making me who I am today and thank you for giving me a childhood full of laughter and love. I’ll never be able to repay what you have given me.

So thank you, Mom, for literally being the best! I love you so much and cannot express how thankful I am for you. I know I don’t thank you enough, and I’m sorry. But I’m always thankful, always.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
