It's A Tall Girl Problem

So you throw on your favorite pair of 5 inch heels, walk into a party, and instantly BAM you're hit with the questions, "Why are you wearing heels? You're already tall enough!" I'm wearing heels because I WANT to. Even though I'm already 5'8, these heels complete the outfit and I can still rock them even if I do look like a giant. So your life is like buddy the elf's. There are many struggles of being "that tall girl" but hey, at least I never had a problem getting onto rides or roller coasters at amusement parks!

Here's 20 struggles of being a tall girl:

1. "Can you stand in the back of the group picture or just squat down in the front?"

2. Not being able to wear heels without looking like a giant or towering over everyone.

3. ALWAYS being taller than all of your friends.

4. Walking into a family event and getting the "Omg did you grow even more since last time I saw you?"

"Probably.."

5. You're taller than 80 percent of guys and finding a guy that is taller than you is nearly impossible.

6. "You're SO tall!"

"Thanks I didn't know.."

7. Having to order your jeans online because they don't sell a size 4 extra long in stores.

8. Don't even think of putting on a romper, it's either an awkward camel toe or WAY too much booty.

9. "How's the weather up there?"

I'll step on you.

10. Clothes always fit awkwardly.

11. "Can you reach that for me?"

I will forever be helping people reach the top shelf at the grocery store or something way up high in the closet.

12. "Do you play basketball or volleyball?"

13. Always feeling bad for people sitting behind you at a show or sporting event.

This is probably what they're thinking...

14. Not being able to cross your legs under a table or your desk because they're too long.

15. Feeling like buddy the elf when you're trying to shower under a short shower head.

16. Dresses and skirts are ALWAYS short on you.

17. Your friends get annoyed at you when you're walking too fast in front of them, because your stride is like 5 times theirs.

18. You're always hitting your head on lamps, ceiling fans, branches, and sometimes even ceilings.

19. Airplane and car rides are torture due to the lack of legroom you have.

20. Always being described as "lanky."

Why try to fit in when you were born to stand out? Embrace your inner tall girl.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
