20 Struggles Of Being A Picky Eater

Food is obviously an important part of our everyday life and we live in a very food-centric and food-obsessed world. Let’s be honest, eating is FUN. Especially when you’re enjoying something you really enjoy the taste of. But eating can also be a stressful event for all those people who just weren’t born with an eccentric taste palette. Many people are picky eaters as children, but start liking different foods more as they become adults. And then there are those people who don’t grow out of their eating habits as children and the non-picky “I’ll-Eat-ANYTHING!” people out there have a hard time understanding that. This prompted me to compile a list of struggles us picky eaters go through on a daily basis.

1. You wish the items on the kid’s menu could be on the regular menu in larger portions

Because it’s all your favorite foods, but you know it won’t fill you up.

2. You could eat cheese pizza for every meal and be content.

Or macaroni and cheese, or really anything with carbs and cheese is probably a safe bet.

3. Going to a restaurant you’ve never been to is an anxiety inducing experience.

What type of food do they have? Will there be anything I like? Should I look up the menu ahead of time so I have enough time to decide? All important questions.

4. Especially if it’s a fancy restaurant with a tiny menu.

5. When someone invites you over for dinner and you don’t like what they’re cooking.

You suffer through it so you don’t feel like a jerk and try your best to avoid spitting it out.

6. When a friend asks to split a meal with you, but you’re on different pages with the toppings.

“Can we just keep it simple…?”

7. You can never decide what or where to eat.

Which causes a strain in your relationships and makes going on dates a challenge.

8. You’ve been asked if you’re a vegetarian, allergic, or intolerant.

And sometimes you lie and say yes, just to avoid further judgment.

9. You don’t bother looking at menus at your favorite restaurants because you know you’re going to order the same thing, every time.

10. You still love the foods you loved as a child.

Can I just have a Lunchable and some Fruit Gushers for dinner?

11. Fast food is your favorite food group.

12. Your friends are constantly trying to get you to try things you know you don’t like.

I don’t have to try sushi to know that I don’t like it okay!

13. You cause confusion when ordering a sandwich.

YES, I’M SURE THAT’S ALL I WANT ON IT.

14. You eat the same thing for breakfast every day.

Because cereal has never let you down.

15. People have told you “YOU’RE CRAZY!” for not liking something.

16. You get a little embarrassed asking the waiter to take off toppings or sauces with your meal.

17. Your friends always laugh when you order anything.

18. People have accused you of not liking food at all.

19. You constantly remind people that it’s not your fault.

I can’t change the way my taste buds feel about things!

20. And constantly thinking about how much easier life would be if you weren’t so picky.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
