Every now and then, life knocks you down. Sometimes it's the trials and tribulations of trying to find a relationship like all your friends or society's pressure on you for not looking/being a certain way, or maybe it's just that you feel a little bit less than the men around you (thanks, sexism.) Either way, sometimes you need a boost and remember that you're a badass woman who can do anything you want. Here's a list of 20 songs that I listen to when I need a reminder.

1. "Salute" by Little Mix

"Salute" is such an anthem, truly. It's for all women out there and shows what it means to come together as a strong group.

2. "Run the World (Girls)" by Beyonce

I don't think there's a woman out there who hasn't listened to this song and instantly felt like they could literally conquer the world. Not to mention, Beyonce's statement performance of this is one all young women should see!

3. "So What" by Pink

This song should resonate with people because even after a breakup, so what? You're still a rockstar. You don't need no man to be a badass rockstar.

4. "Confident" by Demi Lovato

Another song you listen to and think "Hell yeah I'm a confident woman, why can't I be?" Strut your stuff ladies.

5."Independent Woman, Pt. I" by Destiny's Child

Such an empowering anthem about making your own money and buying your own diamonds. A classic but still iconic.

6. "Fighter" by Christina Aguilera

Every person has something, or more often someone, who's taught you that you're stronger than you thought. This X-Tina song is a reminder of that fight you have in you.

7. "Brave" by Sara Bareilles

This song transcends gender, sexuality, and race but it's such an incredibly powerful song and a feel good sing-a-long. Be brave.

8. "Wings" by Little Mix

Another Little Mix song but honestly, so worth it. When people try to tell you what to do, don't listen and live your life. Spread your wings.

9. "Me Too" by Meghan Trainor

If you're headed out, this is a go to make-you-feel-like-a-queen bop. Such a strut worthy song.

10. "Needed Me" by Rihanna

No girl power anthem playlist is complete without this song. Rihanna is queen badass and this song makes you feel like you're on Rihanna's level.

11. "Feeling Myself" by Nicki Minaj featuring Beyonce

Another bop that makes you feel like you can take on the world. Embrace that you're killing it and go and own it.

12. "Little Me" by Little Mix

Slightly on the more heartfelt side, but such an incredibly powerful song to listen to. It's one every young girl should listen to and understand the meaning.

13. "Do My Thang" by Miley Cyrus

Another song that you listen to as you get ready to go out with your girls cause y'all gonna go do your thang.

14. "I Will Survive" Gloria Gaynor

This is the GOAT of girl power anthems. This is one every girl knows the words to.

15. "Grown" by Little Mix

Little Mix has a slew of girl power anthems but this one is such a bop. You know that guy you liked back in high school who's now seen you again and suddenly is interested?....That's this song.

16. "Me & My Girls" by Selena Gomez

Sometimes you just have to go out with your girls. This song is a bop for those nights. You don't need no man, again.

17. "Part of Me" by Katy Perry

Every time this comes on and I'm driving, the volume is automatically turned up and I'm singing it at the top of my lungs. A good reminder not to let anyone change you.

18. "Ain't Your Mama" by Jennifer Lopez

Not only is this song a great song to move your hips to in an attempt to look like JLo, it's a great song making a statement.

19. "Hard Out Here" by Lily Allen

This song is so underrated but it talks about all the sexism and inequalities women face in our society. Such a badass female song.

20. "Who Says" by Selena Gomez

An appropriate song to close out this list is a song about being who you are. This song, to this day, makes me tear up because it's true. Who says you're not perfect? No one. You're good enough. You're beautiful enough. You're worth it.

Notable mentions: "Rise," by Katy Perry, "We Are Who We Are" by Little Mix, "Hair" by Little Mix.

Girls, we run the world. Embrace that. You are incredible. You deserve to feel incredible everyday. Don't let anyone take away your confidence and strut your stuff. Use these songs for a bit of a spark.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
