20 Songs For The Summer
The Imaginative Conservative

I'm sharing 20 of the songs that I've had on repeat pretty much all summer. Some are more recent, but some are throw backs and will always be my favorites. If something peaks your interest, definitely go check it out (the songs are in no particular order).

1. "NO" by Meghan Trainor

I love this song simply because it's just so catchy and on top of that it pretty much explains what every girl feels like when a guy tries to chase her and she isn't feeling him at all.

2. "Dope" by Fifth Harmony

I just came across this song while watching YouTuber, Andrea Russett's, snap story. Once I heard the whole song, I've been obsessed ever since.

3. "Say It" (featuring Tove Lo) by Flume

I've recently become a fan of Flume, and this song is one of my favorites from their album, "Skin."

4. "Nothing Is Promised" by Rihanna

This song is great if you're looking for a song with a good beat. It is quite repetitive, but I still can't stop listening to the song.

5. "Hold Up" by Beyoncé

I have probably overplayed the "Lemonade" album, but this is my favorite song from the album so, naturally, I continue to listen to it over and over again.

6. "Touch It" by Ariana Grande

I'm in love with the album, "Dangerous Woman," this is probably my number one favorite song.

7. "One Dance" by Drake

Even though this is probably one of the most overplayed songs on the radio, I still can't help but dance when this song comes on.

8. "Bad Decisions" by Ariana Grande

Another one of my favorites from the "Dangerous Woman" album.

9. "Smoke Break" by Chance the Rapper

I usually don't care for Chance the Rapper, but this album certainly changed my mind, and I have a new appreciation for him. This is my favorite song from the album, "Coloring Book."

10. "Don't Hurt Yourself" by Beyoncé

I can't help myself, I seriously loved this album.

11. "Make Me" by Britney Spears

Britney Spears making a new song is probably the most exciting thing ever. The fact that someone I was obsessed with listening to when I was younger is still making music is amazing.

12. "Home" by Sebastian Kole

I love this man's voice. I don't think he is very well known, but I'm glad I was discovered Sebastian Kole.

13. "For Free" by DJ Khaled (featuring Drake)

This song is the new summer anthem. With a great beat, Drake, and of course the major key, DJ Khaled, this song is a hit.

14. "Needed Me" by Rihanna

This song is another one of those overplayed songs on the radio. I actually loved this song back when "ANTi" first came out, but I'm still not over it!

15. "Never Be Like You" (featuring Kai) by Flume

This song has become popular on the radio, and I found this song a while ago on SoundCloud, and feel in love.

16. "Nobody Love" by Tori Kelly

I love love love Tori Kelly. Her voice is amazingly powerful, and melodic, I just can't get enough. She is one of my favorite artists to sing along to, and I will always be obsessed with this song.

17. "Rise Up" by Andra Day

Andra Day is another artist that I love to sing along to. Her voice is powerful yet unique.

18. "This is What You Came For" (featuring Rihanna) by Calvin Harris

I've always been a fan of Calvin Harris, and now it's Rihanna and Calvin Harris combined?! I listen to this song almost everyday.

19. "Liquor" by Chris Brown

I definitely do miss the old Chris Brown, back to the times of "Run It" and "Forever," but I can honestly say I have loved this song for a long time.

20. "Sorry" by Beyoncé

And to top the list off, I have yet another Beyoncé song. There's just something about this song that gets me hyped up. It's just such a great song to dance to and not to mention it's fun to sing along to.

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
