1."War Sweater," by Wakey! Wakey!
I found this song while watching One Tree Hill and instantly loved it. The verses are so haunting and eerie, but then the chorus opens up and it's awesome. Love it!
2. "Same Old Love," by Selena Gomez
This catchy tune was on the album Revival in 2015 and it's still so good. Finger-snapping sass with an old time feel is a perfect addition to this playlist.
3. "Good For You," by Selena Gomez and A$AP Rocky
Back to back Selena Gomez? Of course! "Good For You," has a sultry, eerie feel and I'm loving this A$AP Rocky collaboration.
4. "What It's Like To Be Lonely," by Tyler Ward
If you haven't heard of Youtube music star Tyler Ward, you're missing out. He's incredibly talented and this song is off his album Yellow Boxes. Tyler Ward writes and produces without a label and his songs are raw, real, and heartbreaking. Go check him out!
5. "Heathens," by Twenty One Pilots
It's not hard to see why this one made the October playlist. Featured on the Suicide Squad soundtrack, this song is incredibly eerie and intriguing. Also, if you haven't seen the movie Suicide Squad, I highly recommend this DC Entertainment film. You might even find your perfect halloween costume for that party!
6. "Disarm," by The Civil Wars
So much love for John Paul White and Joy Williams. The Civil Wars are such an amazing duo and if they ever reunite and take their last album on tour, this girl, along with all the over diehard fans, will be so happy. This particular song has such a sad melody that it's almost haunting, and it landed a spot on this playlist.
7. "Writings On The Wall," by Sam Smith
Haunting and beautiful. Sam Smith, thank you for this song.
8. "Blue Jeans," by Lana Del Rey
Lana Del Rey has the most distinct sound and her Born To Die album is no exception.
9. "Love Me," by The 1975
I've seen The 1975 twice in concert and they never disappoint. Matty Healy, the lead singer, puts on a fantastic theatrical show, and the visuals on the screens are angelic. "Love Me," was the lead single off their second album, I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it, released last October. Yes, that's the real title, and yes the album is amazing.
10. "Born To Die," by Lana Del Rey
Another Lana Del Rey track off of her Born To Die album. I love the strings in the beginning of this song, and her vocals are so breathy and melodic.
11. "Love Is Blindness," by Jack White
This song was featured on The Great Gatsby 2013 soundtrack. This track clearly belongs on this playlist, with Jack Whites amazing lyrics and vocals.
12. "Till I Collapse," by Eminem and Nate Dog
This song was on Eminem's fourth studio album, The Eminem Show. The back beat sounds a lot like Queens "We Will Rock You." This song is all about inner-rap industry reputations and talent. I love Eminem because most of his songs are raps with meaning, whether it's questioning the industry or acknowledging a serious life issue.
13. "Hello," by Adele
We've all seen the memes on Twitter, and we've all tried to sing this song like Adele does. This hit song is a heartbreaking ballad that has a crisp tone with an echoey melody about a past breakup.
14. "Never Forget Us," by The Noisettes
This track comes off the album Wild Young Hearts, with a distinct 60's soul vibe.
15. "Once Upon A Dream," by Lana Del Rey
Third times a charm, and here's the third Lana Del Rey song. This was off the soundtrack from Maleficent, and perfectly encompasses a ghostly sound for this playlist.
16. "Deeper Side Of You," by Phillip Larue
This song is off the album Let The Road Pave Itself. This track made the playlist because of its crystal clear tone that feels like a new beginning. The simple guitar accompaniment in the beginning gives it a refreshing simplicity. In October, everything is changing and to me this song reflects that shift.
17. "Two Black Cadillacs," by Carrie Underwood
This track is off of the Blown Away album, and the storyline in this song is shocking. Carrie Underwood is phenomenal live, and quite possibly the best female vocalist I've seen in concert.
18. "I Won't," by Colbie Caillat
This post breakup song is off of Caillat's 2009 album Breakthrough.
19. "Hands To Myself," by Selena Gomez
Another triple threat with Selena Gomez's Revival album.
20. "Counting Stars," by Augustana
This song was released in 2011, but the lyrics are so beautiful and honest. It's a great sing along at any time, but especially this October.
