20 Lesser Known Songs Guaranteed To Make Your Day A Little Happier

Having a bad day?

We've all been there. Maybe you're sick or you just got fired or you know you failed that midterm.

Or, maybe you're actually feeling great this week and you need a soundtrack to compliment your happiness.

Well, no matter the circumstances, if you're in the mood to feel happy, this may be your simple solution. Here is a list of songs (that I love) that I think are guaranteed to make you feel a little happier. You've probably never heard of many of these, but I bet you'll be glad you did.

So what are you waiting for? Pull up your Spotify and get happy!

1. "Empress" by Morningsiders

Brace yourself for a lot of good vibes, piano and string instruments.

2. "Hang On" by X Ambassadors

Honestly, I'm biased because this is my favorite band, but literally all of their songs are amazing. Consider also checking out "B.I.G.," "Feather," "Jungle," and "Fear."

3. "A Little Party Never Killed Nobody (All We Got)" by Fergie

What's better than modern pop/rap meets 1920s flapper vibes?

4. "Reflections" by Misterwives

This song (and its corresponding music video) will definitely make you smile.

5. "September" by Earth, Wind & Fire

If you don't know this classic 1978 hit, look it up, please. Then proceed to dance around like a joyous disco-maniac.

6. "Open Road" by Roo Panes

A folksy, upbeat song with lots of whistling and an awesome video to top it off? Might just do the trick.

7. "Not My Day" by Keith James

This guy knows exactly how you're feeling, and he'll definitely help you feel better about it.

8. "5 To Midnight" by AMZY

The chorus of this song is exactly what you need to listen to today.

9. "Carried Away" by Dionysia

Acoustic and soulful in all the best ways.

10. "Gimme A Break" by Nekokat

Quirky and charming, all in a happy musical package.

11. "Make This Leap" by The Hunts

Seven brothers and sisters started a band and created this song just to make you happy. Honestly, though, even their story is awesome.

12. "It's Not Unusual" by Tom Jones

A 1965 classic. I mean, look at that charming grin and soulful stare.

13. "Heartbreak Dreamer" by Mat Kearney

This song has a subtle way of reminding you that everyone is dealing with things and that you're amazing no matter what.

14. "I'm Good" by The Mowgli's

If you can't say you're good before listening to this, it might be a lot easier after you listen.

15. "Scars To Your Beautiful" by Alessia Cara

If you're ever feeling not so great about yourself, Alessia's got your back.

16. "This World Is Yours" by Adam Martin

This song is here to help you remember that this world is yours if you want it.

17. "Hello Honey" by Ivory Hours

In the mood to hang out with these guys and groove and smile all the time? Same.

18. "Yeah Yeah Yeah" by Jax Jones

This song makes me feel like running a mile or something, which is saying something because I am 100 percent not a runner.

19. "The Struggle" by Grizfolk

Feeling empowered yet? I sure hope so.

20. "Mama Said" by Lukas Graham

Full of lots of nostalgia and good reminders, this song gets more and more amazing as you get into it, and it's even better with every listen.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
