20 Things You Hear In Your College Dorm

I moved into the dorms four weeks ago and I think the best part about it is overhearing others conversations. Walls are not thick people, we know when you’re pissed at your roommate, when you think your life is falling apart, or when you have someone over. If you’ve ever lived on campus you know what I’m talking about, and you will relate to these 20 things I have heard walking around my building.

  1. Hey Alex do we have any ramen left?
  2. Will you come show me how to work the washing machine?
  3. Dude how am I supposed to know, my parents always did that for me
  4. Shit my class starts in 5 minutes, I gotta go
  5. Do you know anyone that’s 21?
  6. I’m already wearing sweatpants to class, why am I here?
  7. I just remembered all the debt I’m going to have, damnit
  8. Do you know how long these leftovers have been in the fridge?
  9. I want food but it’s so far away
  10. My life is a mess
  11. Why is room 127 so much cooler than us?
  12. Yeah I don’t feel like going to class
  13. Dude groceries are expensive
  14. I waited a half hour for the bus, I’m never leaving the dorm again
  15. Can we just watch Netflix instead of well, anything
  16. So help me if you have your boyfriend over again, you guys are all lovey and it’s gross
  17. Taco Bell really needs to deliver
  18. The best part about college is I don't have to wake up until 11 and I don't have to wear real clothes to class
  19. Heey wanna loan me 20 bucks?
  20. *on the phone* hey mom, how do I get a pizza stain out of my shirt?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
