The holiday season has finally rolled around which means that college kids everywhere are running back to their hometowns for a few weeks to spend time with friends and family. During this time of year, giving gifts is a tradition but sometimes you don't always get what you want. This year, these are the 20 things a college student really wishes that they could ask for.

1. An unlimited supply of coffee.

When you're regularly running on two to five hours of sleep, you need something to get you through the day.

2. Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime subscriptions.

These subscriptions should come with your acceptance letter to give students a way to procrastinate.

3. A maid service.

Everyone has a college cleanliness horror story, so let's prevent that as much as possible.

4. Classmates who bring enough cake and cupcakes for the rest of the class on their own birthday.

Remember when it was expected for the birthday girl/boy to provide the treats and you got a break from class? That should happen again.

5. A job that pays more than minimum wage.

Any job is great in college but between rent, food, and books you almost have to choose one to eliminate due to your lack of funds.

6. Free groceries.

Ramen and Hot Pockets can only be consumed so much.

7. The ability to be exempt from all exams.

In high school, there was the option to exempt all of your exams if you had an A in the class... can we bring that back?

8. To have pizza parties during class like in high school.

Being rewarded with both pizza and a free day in class was the best!

9. One free day a week that can be spent napping or doing anything unproductive.

No responsibilities. Nothing to do.

10. Every restaurant to start offering free delivery.

The worst is when you're in a mood for food from a certain restaurant that doesn't deliver. Ugh, how dare they?

11. Microwaveable meals that taste like home cooking.

Nothing better than eating a cheap frozen meal that tastes like plastic.

12. Care packages that come monthly like a subscription service.

Knowing that you'll have treats and love every month would give every college student something to look forward to.

13. Student discounts at every high-end store.

Just because I'm poor doesn't mean I shouldn't be able to look nice too.

14. An all expenses paid vacation for the squad.

Squad goals. Instagram on point.

15. A room that doesn't come with a roommate.

Roommates can be great but sharing a room is the worst.

16. A room that's bigger than the size of a closet.

How are we expected to keep all of our stuff in there?

17. Sound proof walls.

Being able to hear everyone's conversations isn't always ideal.

18. A 4.0 GPA without having to try that hard.

A for effort. Am I right?

19. A guaranteed job out of college.

Let's spend thousands of dollars to get an education to qualify for a job that you probably won't get.

20. Free tuition.

The most important of all.

15 Times "Parks and Recreation" Summed Up Your Library Experience

"I've only slept nine hours over the past four days, so I'm right on the verge of a nervous breakdown." - Leslie Knope

Parks and Recreation excitedly gathered around a laptop at a table in an office setting.

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

1. When you've finally found the energy to leave your dorm room and walk into the lib like

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
