Going to college in the brew city has its advantages and disadvantages, but students have found ways to thrive and develop their own unique culture within the city limits. From starting well know college hangouts or learning different truths about the city, here are 19 things you know if you go to college in Milwaukee.
1. You and the other 20-somethings on the bus are most likely the only ones riding public transit that aren't commuters or homeless.
And you more than likely got your bus pass with unlimited rides from your university.
2. You know Starbucks will never be able to compete with Colectivo.
It tastes as if pure love was put into a cup.
3. $2 cherry bombs at Eastsider are your drink of choice because it is the only drink deal you can afford when you go out.
“Drinks on me, guys.”
4. You know Ian’s is some of the best pizza you have ever had.
The Baskin Robbins of pizza; you can get anything imaginable.
5. You go to Taco Tuesdays and Thursdays at Belair and feast.
$2 tacos? Don’t mind if I do.
6. You order toppers at 3 am just because you can.
Mmm, greasy goodness and delicious stixs.
7. You know you will almost always meet and see some weird people while at Bradford beach.
Raise your hand if you have ever seen various older men rollerblading in speedos.
8. You go into Grand Avenue Mall and expect there to be stores.
Get it together, Milwaukee.
9. You get unbelievably good deals on tickets to sporting events and concerts.
Student rates, yes, please.
10. Because of those deals, you go to professional sporting events more than your own schools.
The Bucks, Brewers, Admirals and the Wave? Who needs school sports!
11. Getting the Power Pass to Summerfest is an absolute must.
Spending $90 never felt so good.
12. You are going to end up going to the Rave more than you want to.
Loud music, flashing lights, glow sticks and sweaty people--everywhere.
13. Been scared for your life while you are at the Rave is a thing.
“Oh gosh, someone please get me out of this dark, musty place."
14. You also know accidentally hitting on a high schooler at the Rave is a thing too.
“So what school are you at?" "I'm a senior at Greendale." "Oh, umm, well, I should get back to my friends.”
15. Your go-to place to take friends and family visiting from out of town is the Public Market.
It's iconic, easy and the food is to die for.
16. Taking spur-of-the-moment trips to Madison is completely normal.

18. Participation in the Shamrock Shuffle is a right of passage.
No matter how much beer you drink, you’re still not Irish.
