For a long time, I didn't fully embrace being a writer and all of the characteristics that come with it. As I gained confidence in my ability to "word vomit" on a piece of paper and come up with something that sort of made sense, I began to see life in a new light. More specifically, I began to embrace the fact that God gave me the gift of being a writer. For those of you that do not fully understand us, we experience life in a different way. We process information differently, we observe differently and we feel emotions differently. While some may call us weird (and let's face it, we are) below are 17 reasons why being a writer is a blessing.
1. We stare without even realizing it when we see something that inspires us.
2. And the amount of times we have been caught in a daze while someone is talking is downright embarrassing.
3. We enjoy independent coffee shops because they give us inspiration and a sense of comfort.
4. We overanalyze things because that is how our brains work.
5. We seem like we're sending a lengthy text but we're really just jotting down article/story ideas in our note app.
6. We notice that you prefer spoons over forks and that you're wearing a new shirt because we're incredibly observant.
7. We often have a hard time speaking up in the moment but always write our thoughts out later.
8. Sometimes we forget where we're walking or driving because we get lost in thought.
9. There is honestly nothing more exciting than finding someone who appreciates your favorite novel as much as you do.
10. We find quotes just as comforting as hugs from mom.
11. We can usually find a blessing in an unfortunate event.
12. We have a special playlist of songs that consists all our favorite song lyrics.
13. After a bad day, we know that there is nothing a little coffee, music and writing can't heal.
14. If someone ever does anything hurtful to us, they can expect an article about it in the near future.
15. We know that non-writers don't fully understand us and that is OK.
16. When we meet other writers, we get overly excited.
17. We know that the word "scripturient" means having a consuming passion to write.
18. We don't understand people who don't proofread.
19. When in doubt, write it out.
