I have been waiting for my letter to Hogwarts for almost 9 years and even though that makes me a little bitter, I still love Harry Potter. Harry Potter has seemed to be off the radar for a bit, besides those Harry Potter weekends on Freeform. However, this new book has got me thinking back to the original books and movies. There are so many emotional and inspirational quotes from the books and movies. Here are my favorite:

1. "Do not pity the dead Harry, pity the living, and above all, those who live without love." -Albus Dumbledore, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”

2. " If you want to know what a man's like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals." -Sirius Black, “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire”

3. "Just because you've got the emotional range of a teaspoon doesn't mean we all have." -Hermione Granger, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

4. "It is my belief...that the truth is generally preferable to lies." -Albus Dumbledore, “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire”

5. "We've all got both light and darkness inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That's who we really are." -Sirius Black, “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban”

6. "Things we lose have a way of coming back to us in the end, if not always in the way we expect." -Luna Lovegood, “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix”

7. "What's comin' will come, and we'll meet it when it does." -Rubeus Hagrid, “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire”

8. "But you know, happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light." -Albus Dumbledore, “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban”

9. "It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends." -Albus Dumbledore, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone”

10. "For in dreams, we enter a world that is entirely our own. Let them swim in the deepest ocean or glide over the highest cloud." -Albus Dumbledore, “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban”

11. "It matters not what someone is born, but what they grow to be." -Albus Dumbledore, “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire”

12. "You are protected in short by your ability to love." -Albus Dumbledore, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince”

13. "The ones that love us never really leave us. You can always find them, in here." -Sirius Black, “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban”

14 "Always." Severus Snape, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”

15. “It is a curious thing, Harry, but perhaps those who are best suited to power are those who have never sought it. Those who, like you, have leadership thrust upon them, and take up the mantle because they must, and find to their own surprise that they wear it well.” -Albus Dumbledore, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”

16. "It is the quality of one's convictions that determines success, not the number of one's followers." -Remus Lupin, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”

17. "It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities." -Albus Dumbledore, “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets”

18. "Words are, in my not-so-humble opinion, the most inexhaustible form of magic we have, capable of both inflicting injury and remedying it." -Albus Dumbledore, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”

19. "Anything is possible if you've got enough nerve." Ginny Weasley, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince”

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
