17 Times 'Gilmore Girls' Directly Spoke Into Your College Life

" Gilmore Girls" is a show of which we caught a few episodes when our older sister was watching it weekly, and religiously, on the WB. We never knew the plot lines as well as our sister, except that Luke and Lorelai were meant to be, until Netflix blessed us with all seven seasons. As we binge-watched to our hearts content, we realized this mother and daughter duo, through comedy and sarcasm, was teaching us life lessons more than any other show had. I, especially, thought these lessons applied to college life so I gathered them into a list for all of you.

So, sit back, relax and enjoy 17 times the girls of "Gilmore Girls" spoke wisdom into your college life.

1. When your parents call and ask about grades, student loans, or if that one guy you posted a picture with last Saturday is your new boyfriend.

Mom, no, leave me alone, he's just my friend. I've got to go now, bye! I have class, talk to you later. Bye. No really, Mom, bye.

2. When your college's health center has that one mental health day and brings puppies to campus.

The worst part about college is leaving your pets behind. We know how starved we are for puppy cuddles.

3. When you realize how much you rely on coffee to function.

Luke:How many cups of coffee have you had today?
Lorelai: None...plus five.

4. When you have to do anything on the weekend other than sleep.

Lorelai: Rory, my heart. It is Saturday, the day of rest.
Rory: Sunday’s the day of rest.
Lorelai: Saturday is the day of pre-rest.
Rory: Pre-rest?
Lorelai: Yeah, so that way when you actually get to Sunday you’re rested enough to enjoy your rest.
Rory: That makes absolutely no sense.
Lorelai: That’s because it’s 6 o’clock on Saturday morning.

5. Well, actually when you have to do anything other than sleep.

Why in the world did we ever think it was a good idea to sign up for morning classes, especially major-specific, morning classes.

6. No really, sleeping is probably a college student's most important pastime.

My freshman year roommate napped everyday and she was a genius.

7. And when you don't have time to sleep, you drink coffee.

This is how the caffeine addiction starts.

8. When you're finally independent and your parents can't tell you to eat healthy anymore.

Coffee, chocolate milk, and french fries have become three of our main food groups.

9. When you shell out way too many dining points for the buffet in the cafeteria.

You paid $9.50 in dining points for this meal, you can't just get food from the salad bar!

10. When you try to get dressed up for a night out and your friends are forcing you to go.

I'm so tired, why are we going out when we can could just stay in and eat pizza?

11. When you meet someone cute on campus and try to make a good first impression.

Hi, nice to meet you. You're beautiful. I mean, what, sorry, I didn't mean that. Not that you aren't beautiful, I just... Wow, is it hot in here? I feel like I'm talking a lot.

12.When you think of that terrible first impression at the most inopportune times.

And you thought being a college student would mean you were now cool, calm, and sophisticated and over your awkward phase.

13. When someone asks if you might have had too much coffee.

Lorelai: I can't stop drinking the coffee. If I stop drinking the coffee, I stop doing the standing and the walking and the words putting-into-sentence doing.

14. When you think you many have met someone special.

All we really want is to find the Luke to our Lorelai.

15. When you, or a friend, go through a tough breakup.

Nothing cures a broken heart like unhealthy, delicious comfort food.

16. When you realize that your coffee addiction may be escalating to an unhealthy level.

No, you don't understand, I need the coffee. *crazy eyes*

17. When other people question your love for "Gilmore Girls."

No one has ever taught you as much as this dynamic mother-sister duo.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
