Some of the little things in life are the most important ones.

I’m officially an adult, and I like to think I have a pretty nice perspective on certain things in life. These are a couple of the important things I think that everyone should take into consideration every now and again.

1. You have to let things go.

You are going to get your feelings hurt. It’s inevitable. But you can control how you respond and handle it. People may not care or apologize. It’s going to happen. Brush it off, forget about it, and move on. You can only control so many things in your life. Not what others say or do but how you handle it on the inside.

2. You have to accept the changes that are about to come.

You are diving into adulthood headfirst. It’s scary and if someone says that it isn’t, they are lying. Doing things on your own that you never have or never even thought about doing is awkward and uncomfortable at times. But it will all be worth it. And always remember that it’s OK to ask for help every now and then.

3. You have to learn how to love yourself.

You are all you have so you are gonna have to learn to love you unconditionally. Forget the flaws and the little things. If you know you have given your all to make yourself the best version you can be. That is good enough and you need to give yourself credit and love yourself for that.

4. You need to treat yourself every now and then.

Go out with your friends. Get your hair done. Buy yourself a new outfit. Make yourself feel good. TREAT YO SELF.

5. Do not care about what others think, do what makes YOU happy.

At the end of the day you are the only thing that matters. If you are happy with yourself then that is good enough. Don’t be a follower. Take your own path and do what feels right.

6. Things are temporary.

Things do happen and life sucks sometimes. But nothing negative will last forever but you also need to take the initiative to try to change what needs to be changed to better yourself and your life. Not everything in life comes easy, but help yourself out and don’t let negative things stand in the way of your positive life.

7. Be thankful for all of the wonderful things you have in your life.

Every once in awhile take a moment to be thankful for you family, home, friends, education, or whatever it may be. And also remember to thank the right people for providing you with such a wonderful life and things to help you succeed and mold you into the person you are today.

8. Your family is and always will be there for you.

At the end if the day your mom will always pick up the phone and listen to whatever you may have to say. But also don’t forget to call you dad every now and then. Family will always be there through think and thin. Don’t forget that.

9. People are going to leave.

Yes, it can be heart breaking. But it essentially could be the best thing for you. It may take awhile but need to accept it and move on because when the wrong people leave you life, the right things start happening.

10. Overthinking literally gets you nowhere.

I suffer from overthinking way too often. But over the years I’ve learned it hasn’t done anything good for my wellbeing. It triggers my anxiety and immediately makes me shut down. Do not do that to yourself. Try to go with the flow and always have a back up plan. Don’t get yourself in too deep with certain situations. It always leads to overthinking.

11. Do not let the little things define who you are.

Not your job, your bank account, your education, or your flaws. You are the only you out there and you’re a pretty damn good one.

12. Kill them with kindness.

This may be kind of cliche. But I’ve learned that getting angry over petty things and at petty people get you nowhere in life. Put your smile on and get through it. It’s going to be one of the hardest things you may do. But trust me in the end it will only benefit you.

13. Never let people ruin your day.

People will say things to you that will hurt. You may get into a fight with your mom before you leave the house in the morning. Brush it off, things happen and everyone gets upset every once in awhile. But do not let it effect your entire day. Trust me, it’ll only go down hill from there.

14. Never forget to say I love you.

ALWAYS tell the people you love that you love them. Because you do not know the next time you are going to see them. Never leave someone when you are angry, talk things out and always let them know how much you love them and care about them because they deserve that from you.

15. Cry when you need to.

I know when I need to cry I just have to let it all out. And honestly I usually feel amazing afterward. Or extremely tired and pass out. But regardless, try not to bottle up emotions too long. When you feel upset, angry, sad, or anxious. Cry. It’s OK. I promise.

16. Try to smile more though.

Smiling is contagious. It’s not only good for you and can instantly better your mood. It will also do that for others. Don’t be that person with the resting bitch face. Brighten your mood and others with just a simple smile. It goes a long way.

17. Do not let anyone walk all over you.

Stand up for yourself and don’t take shit from people that try to tell you how to live your life. It’s yours and nobody can take it from you.

18. When you find love, keep it close.

Love is a very special thing. With friends, boyfriends, and close family members. Know your definition of love and always stay true to it. Love is a very powerful and meaningful thing to many, as it is to me. Do not let go of love because if you do so you are letting go of what is most important to you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
