24 Signs You Went To Catholic School

When you meet another person who attended Catholic School, you instantly feel a bond. No, not all of our teachers were nuns and yes, we did attend mass every week. We all say it was torture going to Catholic School, but we really loved every minute of it.

1. You own countless plaid jumpers, skirts and blouses.

2. Your skirt could not be any longer than a sticky note above the knee.

3. Picking an outfit for dress down day was the most stressful day of the month. (Mostly because your entire closet was the plaid skirts, blouses, and jumpers).

4. You did not learn how to do makeup until high school because you got a detention for it in grammar school.

5. The whole school had to attend mass once a week.

6. The only perk of mass was getting out of class for an hour.

7. You remember having to sit next to the opposite gender during mass.

8. You always tried to avoid Sunday mass by using the excuse that you went during the week at school.

9. You know church songs by heart and could probably recite an entire mass by yourself.

10. And if you weren't participating in mass, you got in trouble.

11. You remember going to the parochial school dances, but only staying with kids from your school.

12. You never forgot to leave room for Jesus at the dances.

13. You were forced to write in cursive because you were told that is how you have to write in high school.

14. When you got to high school, you had no idea how to open a locker because you had to use cubbies during grammar school.

15. You started every morning with a prayer and the pledge.

16. You got in trouble for saying, "Oh my God," so you resorted to "Oh my Gosh."

17. There was always that one overachiever in the class.

18. If the 30 kids in your class were too loud, you had to have a silent lunch.

19. And you knew everything about those 30 kids considering you spent nine years with them.

20. You probably might have dated a few of those classmates.

21. It annoyed you when friends complained about ccd because you had religion class everyday.

22. Every time another teacher, the principal, or the priest came into the room you had to stand and greet them.

23. You got detention for chewing gum, having nail polish or wearing colorful socks.

24. The Our Father and Hail Mary are forever embedded in your head.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
