1. Not knowing what it’s like to have a bad football team, or a quiet student section. (Not complaining though.)
2. When a good song plays at the two-minute bell before homeroom, you know it’s about to be a good day.
3. The struggle of having to buy lunch and deciding if you’re going to either (a), run to get there before anyone else does, or (b), wait until it’s physically possible to squeeze in there with approximately 3.5 minutes left until the bell rings.
4. Planning your Seaside trip the second you officially become a junior — or Wildwood for
5. Having a “beeeeeep” instead of a traditional bell. You probably just heard the sound in your head. Also, anytime the beep lasts longer than it should, you and your friends look at each other like, “Oh, okay. Alright, Manalapan.”
6. Praying to the man, the myth, the legend — Charles Sampson — anytime that there is a slight possibility of a delayed opening or closing. (And risking getting blocked because you responded to the alert tweet with a meme.)
7. Never knowing whether a fire drill or lock down drill is actually only a drill. Sometimes it’s not. Such as when a harmful chemical was leaked in class, or when a student was crawling around the ceiling. Just Manalapan things.
8. Bribing your friends who have a food science/cuisine class to give you some of their food that they are openly carrying in either tinfoil or that little clear plastic bag.
9. Trying to think of any possible way you can get your guidance counselor to change your schedule to switch into a friend’s class (usually lunch).
10. Applebee's is the place to be after any MHS event.
11. Having to give your full name, class location, time of entry/exit, mother’s maiden name, social security number, and/or blood type to use any bathroom.12. Having LIT indoor soccer/volleyball tournaments in gym class, and hoping you get your first choice so that you’re not stuck with ‘outdoor games’ or ‘ping pong/walking/advanced sitting'.
13. You go ALL OUT for spirit week and/or BOTC.

14. The teacher-to-teacher friendships you see on the daily — from bromances to BFFs, it’s always fun when another teacher will freely walk into your class to tell your teacher a funny joke they heard, or just to say "hey."
15. Having one of the best music programs in the district: I spent most of my time at MHS being involved in our music program so I have to give that quick shout out to our own amazing Mr. Maunez (who literally has his own wing/hall at MHS).

16. You know the struggle on senior prom day when the period 8 bell ‘beeps’ and seniors (mainly the girls) come sprinting from all directions to find the quickest exit so they can make their hair appointment scheduled approximately 2 minutes after the bell.
17. Dr. Angelozzi’s forehead. Enough said, because you already know.
18. No matter what you say about MHS, you're proud to have gone to such a spirited and well-accredited high school.
