17 Things You Know When You're From A City That Loves St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick's Day is coming and you couldn't be more excited. We all know what it means: Parades, parties, food specials, and fun. The floats are ridiculous, the beer is refreshing, you're probably not dressed right for the weather, but you couldn't care less. So break out all that green (as if you don't wear it all year anyway) because March 17th is creeping up fast and your shamrock sunglasses aren't going to dust off themselves.

1. The holiday season isn't really over until March 18th.

The best days of the year: Christmas, your birthday, St. Patrick's Day... and not necessarily in that order.

2. There's nothing like the parade.

You've seen it all.

3. Everyone and their mom will be there.

Some people even bring their dogs.

4. It's a party for all ages.

It gets better each year.

5. No matter what you wear, there will always be someone more decked out than you.

Leprechauns, shamrocks, and green galore.

6. Because people are kind of crazy.

And today it's OK.

7. There will be dancers.

8. And bagpipes.

9. And beer.

Oh my!

10. Yep, lots of beer.

Guinness, probably.

11. But the cops will ignore the majority of the publicly intoxicated.

Because they outnumber the cops.

12. Unless they do something really stupid. Which they probably will.

Google "St. Patrick's Day drunk crimes." You won't regret it.

13. Corned beef and cabbage will be served at every restaurant.

Mmm, mmm, mmm.

14. The party starts early.

15. And goes on through the night.

It's not for the weak.

16. So your day will be unforgettable.

17. And somehow you'll still forget it...

Whether you're actually Irish or not.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
