17 Telltale Signs You Go To A Christian University

Christian universities may differ in denomination, but they seem attract the same kind of people. Christian university students have characteristics unique to their own kind. Here are 17 stereotypical characteristics of Christian university students.

1. Ring by spring is a real thing.

Springtime is the time where you avoid social media because every other post is from a couple who just got engaged. When you first got to college, you swore you would avoid the "ring by spring" phenomenon, but deep down inside you honestly hope that will be you.

2. You have a holy catch phrase.

The word "blessed" comes rolling off your tong as a filler word. I say "Praise the Lord" at least once in every conversation. My friends are known for saying "Blessed and highly favored," "Praise the Lamb," "Yes Lord," "Too blessed to be stressed," "I rebuke that in the name of Jesus," etc.

3. You dress for success.

This is not a choice but a requirement. Having a dress code has boosted your appearance because you are forced to look as if you just walked out of a business meeting. This has helped you in life because you know how to dress for interviews, meetings, and jobs.

4. You don't understand Greek life.

Greek life is not a thing at your university, but you do have brother/sister wings and that is the same thing right? We have our own version of date parties where we set our roommates up with their crushes, but the night normally turns out to be as awkward as a middle school dance.

5. You are looked down upon by public universities.

Other universities think you are pious, holier than thou and sheltered. They just don't understand. The academics are just as good. The parties are just as holy. The rules are just as strict. There really isn't a difference except everything is different.

6. ... but you are uplifted by your parents and grandparents.

Your family thinks you are in the holy of holies for attending your university. You have gained an extra jewel on your crown in heaven according to your family.

7. You know everyone.

You may not know everyone's first name, but you do know something about them. New people are like celebrities because it is an upset in the social balance as the battle begins for their friendship. Well, until you find out how they spent their first weekend at school.

8. You accidentally stumble upon intercessory prayer sessions.

This just kind of happens. You are walking back to your dorm late at night and you see a group of people huddled around. You can't tell if they are looking at a cool star in the sky or if they are bringing the Holy Spirit down because they are fervently pointing at the sky and yelling. So you decide to slowly walk away to not interrupt the moment.

9. You can't tell if someone is an international student or speaking in tongues.

Because your school is very charismatic and loves international students you become very confused when you over hear people talking or praying.

10. You go on one date with someone and everyone thinks you are engaged.

Your mom, grandma, aunt, girls down the hall and high school friends you haven't seen since graduation are calling you asking when the wedding is. It was one date.

11. You have a Hebrew tattoo.

It may not be Hebrew, but it is probably a Bible verse, the Jesus fish, a cross or any other Holy symbol. Forget Leviticus 19:28. Your body may be the temple, but the temple is supposed to be decorated. Right?

12. You own Chacos.

Oh those magical sandals you can wear on your mission trips, church outings and camp. I'm pretty sure Jesus wore Chacos.

13. You own a hammock.

I'm not really sure when or how it became popular, but there is nothing quite like the feeling of chilling in a hammock on a warm spring day. People may judge you when you are at the park and you set up between two trees. They are just jealous because they can't sway with the breeze like you can.

14. You probably work at a summer camp.

Whether it is every summer or for one week at your church, you probably spent some time volunteering at summer camp. Growing up, you went to church camp and now it is your time to give back.

15. You have a purity ring.

"True love waits." This was a thing made especially popular by the Jonas Brothers. Need I say anything more?

16. Your parents met at your college.

Refer back to point 1. No, my parents didn't meet at college, but they met because of mutual friends from college.

17. You are an Ephesians 5 man or Proverbs 31 women in training.

This is what your college education is paying for and also helps with point 1.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
