Being home for the holidays, we love snuggling our pups. There’s no doubt it’s something us college kids look forward to the most. Every family loves their dog, no matter how much of a little shit they can be at times. But there’s always that family that causes us to question their abnormal obsession with their furry friend. Refer to the signs below to find out if you’re one of these people. I know I am.
1. When you get home from school, the first person you greet is your dog. Mom can wait.
2. FaceTime dates with them are a weekly necessity.
3. You get emotionally distraught when they choose to sleep with someone else in the family.
4. You cannot leave them without a formal goodbye and telling them that you’ll be back soon. You know they understand every word.
5. Your dog is 70+ pounds but you still consider it a lap dog.
6. When he rides in the car with you and squirms on your lap, you think the claws digging into your thighs is cute.
7. Their birthdays are a holiday in your household.
8. When you have some form of dinner left over on your hands or mouth, you summon your pup to clean it up.
9. The “pet voice” and nicknames that come out of your mouth make all bystanders borderline nauseous.
10. When you dress your dog in jackets and snow boots.
11. You require your dog sitter to sign a lengthy contract and recite some kind of oath with their right hand up. You’re trusting them with your baby.
12. You make an Instagram page for your dog. A questionable amount of your time is spent posting on it.
13. You have a “Dog’s first Christmas” ornament smack dab in the middle of your tree.
14. You make room on the mantle for your dog's stocking, and you best believe it’s stuffed to the brim with treats and toys on Christmas morning.
15. If you’re single, you make jokes that you’re dating your dog and bringing him to your next formal (or is that just me?).
16. In your mind, you know no one’s dog will ever be as cute as yours.
17. God forbid the Christmas card happens without your dog.
