17 Signs That the End of the Semester is Approaching, as Told by High School Musical

As we near Thanksgiving and Christmas break, our motivation seems to evaporate into thin air. There is so much we would rather be doing than sitting in our rooms staring at our unfinished assignments, wondering how one single person can handle so much stress. Around this time, we all could use a little humor to help us survive through the day. So, here are 17 signs that you are a college student struggling to survive by the end of the semester, as told by High School Musical:

1. You are never able to catch up on assignments.

No matter how hard you try, you can't seem to finish any assignment. You finish one essay, then three more are due in the next week. At least you can feel accomplished for a brief moment...before realizing that you really have no reason celebrate.

2. Your lack of motivation makes you feel like you're drowning.

You know that feeling when you get stuck under water and you know you can't do anything about it, so you just kind of accept the fact that you are dying? Well, your inability to catch up on homework begins to harbor the same feeling. In fact, I could argue that it simply feels like someone has punched you in the stomach multiple times.

3. Every time you think you don't have homework, you end up disappointed.

Sometimes, at this point in the semester, we think God has provided us with a miracle, which is a lack of homework. Then, when you wake up at 1:00 a.m. and remember that you had three papers, a group project, and a midterm to study for by 8:00 a.m., you realize that some things are too good to be true.

4. You start doing things you never normally do.

We all have coping mechanisms, but when you're done, you're just...done. Sometimes, we are so exhausted that our methods of coping don't line up with our personalities. Probably because most of the things that usually interest us, begin stressing us out by the end of the semester.

5. You're so annoyed that your insults don't even make sense.

Human interaction annoys you far more than usual. And, you're running on such lack of sleep, nothing you say makes any sense, including that insult that you think is absolute gold.

6. You literally just want to scream all the time.

You're so stressed and sleep deprived that screaming seems to be the only solution.

7. Everybody understands you.

Even when you do just randomly let out a scream, nobody judges you because...

8. Your professors try to make the work sound like a good thing.

Your professors keep piling on the homework, but try to convince you that this work will benefit you in the long run. We all want to believe this, but sometimes, it just feels like they sit on a throne of lies!

9. You start wishing you were in a musical so you could break into a song.

Like I've already said, stress and sleep deprivation make college students do crazy things, including singing the songs to High School Musical like you should have been Gabriela the whole time. Or Troy. Depending on the type of person you are.

10. By the time finals come around, nothing makes sense.

Once finals approach, you receive your study guides, hoping it will show you everything you forgot throughout the semester. But, instead, you just look down at the paper like...

11. Even the library doesn't help.

You try to study in all types of places. But, even when you decide to just opt for the library, the lack of noise seems too loud.

12. You're so happy when you get your passing grade back.

You're so relieved when finals are over, and receiving your test grade and realizing that you passed is probably the best feeling in the entire world. So, you and your roommate dance around the room like...

13. When you don't get the grades you expect, your lack of disappointment shocks you.

You're just so excited that the semester is over, you can't even be angry that the hours you spent studying did not help in the slightest.

14. The lack of stress by the end of the semester feels unreal.

You feel a heavy weight lift off your shoulders. It almost makes you think you can fly!

15. You start to think you can make changes during the following semester.

At the end of one semester, you decide that you're not going to procrastinate and you are going to be a good student. You will not cause yourself the amount of stress and sleep deprivation that you suffered this last semester.

16. Even that doesn't work out the way you planned.

Once the next semester starts, you laugh at your previous statement and continue in your habits.

17. In the end, you remember the important things.

You start to realize that you are in college so you can become Sharpay, the one character who can pay another person to put on her sunglasses. So, you keep working hard so you can be fabulous! Then, you can pay people to break out into High School Musical songs with you whenever you want!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
