As college students, you put your academics first, but there are a number of resources you need to keep yourselves moving and push forward. When you're going about your daily activities, whether it's to take a break, or to relax, or spending time with friends, Netflix is on your side.

1. You have options

There are so many shows and movies to choose from. You might have watched through The Office and then you need to watch Breaking Bad, but you can also see Finding Nemo, Finding Dory, or Black Mirror. It's all there.

2. You'll always have something to do

When you have a Netflix account, you'll never have to worry about not having something to do. You can choose to watch a movie or TV Show, enjoy yourself, and experience a wide range of emotions just like you go through when you're at a mixer, party, or at the bar or club.

3. You can choose to do your homework while watching Netflix

Again, as a student, when you are trying to get your homework done, it can be challenging to get yourself into the mood of doing it. But watching Netflix can provide something to really help you focus. Go get that Easy A.

4. You can watch some Netflix when you take a homework break

When you're getting your homework done, sometimes you'll be able to breeze right through it. Additionally, you'll have homework in multiple subjects, so once you complete your homework on one subject, take a Netflix break before completing your homework on the other one.

5. You can eat a meal while watching Netflix

As college students, one important aspect of college life is finding the right time to eat meals and sticking to that routine. If you live off campus or eat in your dorm room, you can eat your meals from your couch (if you're eating at home) while watching an episode of Finding Nemo.

6. You can have it on while you're preparing a meal

Before you even eat the meal, you have to prepare it, right? Whether you're microwaving some old Chinese takeout, or cooking some homemade orange chicken and fried rice, you can have your Netflix running while you're cooking a meal.

7. Bring it everywhere you go

If you can't be at home, and you want to be doing something in addition to studying or doing your homework, you can use your Netflix subscription while you're at the library or when you're at the quietest coffee place in town, and you can use it on your laptop or tablet instead of the television.

8. You have something to talk about

Let's say you catch up with your friends over food or coffee, or you meet them at the library, and you update each other on how your lives are going, or something interesting you've done, you can talk about where you are on your Netflix show of choice. If, by chance, one of your friends is watching the same show, you have something to bond over to strengthen your friendship.

9. You can bring friends over

Whether it's a casual night with the guys or girls, slumber party, or what have you, get the Netflix up and running so they can enjoy the show or movie with you while they're at your place. You're letting them use your Netflix account with you too.

10. Work out while you watch

When you're at your apartment or dorm room watching a show or movie on Netflix, you can get some exercise in while you're catching up on what everyone else is watching. Plus, you'll be experiencing the gains while the rest of them just sit on their couch as they watch.

11. Watch a few episodes while you're getting ready for a night out

If you're a girl who's getting dressed up for a Girls' Night Out or you're a guy who's going to have some bro-time, you can take advantage of the fact that you've gotten further on your show while you were getting ready. Then you have something to talk about while you're out with the girls (or guys) too, while you share some drinks together.

12. You can watch it over the weekend

After a long week of school, you'll need time to relax. Why not spend some of that time watching your favorite show?

13. Watch a few episodes while you're doing the dishes

Another opportunity to do two tasks at once! Who doesn't like those? As college students, you're taking on more responsibilities than just your studies, as you have to take out the garbage on your own, and do the dishes on your own, some way, some how.

14. The monthly cost is equivalent to the size of a 12-inch pizza

According to Domino's, a 14" Large Cheese Pizza is $9.99 (https://www.fastfoodmenuprices.com/dominos-prices/), which is only $1 more than the monthly Netflix subscription. Plus, you can enjoy that pizza while you watch Netflix.

15. Watch a few episodes while you're doing laundry

Every now and then, you have to do the laundry, and you can watch a few episodes while you're waiting for it to finish drying and while you're folding the clothing.

16. Chill

Netflix and Chill.

17. 'Netflix' is worth 17 raw points in Scrabble

One point for every reason to use your Netflix account.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
