If you’re anything like me, watching a great TV show makes your life better, and when it comes to making you feel better, nothing does that quite like a comedy. With so many shows to watch, it can definitely be overwhelming to decide what to commit to next. Here’s my list of best binge-worthy comedies to start watching right now:
1. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia
This is definitely the best comedy I’ve ever come across. Even after 11 seasons, following the misanthropic gang and their raunchy, despicable antics has never gotten old. The crazier the situation, the better the show is.

Number of Seasons: 11
Best Episodes: “Dennis and Dee Go on Welfare” (2.03), “The Nightman Cometh” (4.13), “Chardee MacDennis: The Game of Games” (7.07), “The Gang Tries Desperately to Win an Award” (9.03), “The Gang Makes Lethal Weapon 6” (9.06), “Charlie Work” (10.04)
Available on: Netflix (Seasons 1-10), Hulu (Seasons 1-11), FXNow (Season 11)
2. Veep
This masterpiece stars the incredible Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Vice President Selina Meyer and follows the frequent incompetency of her staff and others within Washington D.C. Even beyond the amazing leading lady, the show boasts a fantastic cast, most notably Anna Chlumsky and Tony Hale in the roles of Amy, Selina’s Chief of Staff and Gary, Selina’s bagman, respectively.

Best Episodes: “Fundraiser” (1.01), “Catherine” (1.03), “Alicia” (3.03), “Convention” (4.05)

3. Parks and Recreation
This great show stars Amy Poehler as the hard-working and ever-passionate Leslie Knope and it really finds its voice in season three. However, that doesn’t mean there aren’t still gems in the first two seasons. Kindhearted and clever, all of the members of the Pawnee Parks Department will capture your heart quickly. Except Jerry, of course.

4. Arrested Development
"Arrested" is one of the shows that made me fall in love with comedy, with its quick wit and amazing cast, who have since gone on to have even more amazing careers. The dysfunctional Bluth family never seems to be out of trouble, and each problem allows for lots of laughs. Tragically cut short after three seasons on FOX, "Arrested" was picked up again by Netflix in 2013 for a fourth season.
Still Airing? Kind of, Season 5 will happen eventually.

5. 30 Rock
Tina Fey’s brilliant creation is inspired by her time as a writer and cast member on SNL, creating situations behind the scenes that are just as funny as a live sketch show--sometimes even funnier. Self-aware, quick-witted, and with a talented cast, "30 Rock" will make binge-ing all of its seven seasons some of your best 48.5 hours ever spent.

Available on: Netflix (Seasons 1-7)
6. Master of None
In this Netflix original series, Aziz Ansari delivers a show that I find to be one of the most accurate depictions of modern life as a person in their late teens to twenties. The show is able to be comedic while also dealing with deep issues such as racism, women’s rights, and the complexities of navigating relationships.

Number of Seasons: 1
Best Episodes: “Parents” (1.02), “Indians on TV” (1.04), “Finale” (1.10)

7. The Office (U.S.)
Although based off of the original British series, "The Office" (U.S.) was able to take on a life of its own. Its mockumentary style paired with a fantastic cast and spectacular writing makes for a fantastic TV show filled with both hilarious and heartwarming story lines.

Available on: Netflix (Seasons 1-9)
8. Bob’s Burgers
A great animated series aimed towards teen and adult audiences, "Bob's Burgers" is hilarious. Each member of the Belcher family is an incredibly well-written and detailed character, making the ways in which they react to and interact in various events extremely entertaining.

Available on: Netflix (Seasons 1-4), Hulu (Season 6)
9. Freaks and Geeks
Tragically only one season long, "Freaks and Geeks" offers what is, in my opinion, the most accurate representation of the challenges and experiences that make up high school. Created by Paul Feig and with Judd Apatow as an executive producer, this show also served as an early start for many now-famous actors, including James Franco, Seth Rogen, and Jason Segel.

10. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
Tina Fey and Robert Carlock’s latest project after "30 Rock," this Netflix original has an interesting premise: it follows Kimmy, a girl recently rescued from a cult after 15 years, as she navigates the modern world and tries to create an identity for herself. Ellie Kemper does fantastically in the title role, and breakout star Tituss Burgess is unstoppable with the song “Peeno Noir.”

Best Episodes: “Kimmy Goes Outside!” (1.01), “Kimmy Goes to School!” (1.06)

11. Bojack Horseman
If you told me a few years ago that one of my favorite comedic TV shows was going to be an animated series about a depressed anthropomorphic horse who was a former TV star, I’d think you were crazy. However, this Netflix series, starring Will Arnett, Alison Brie, and Aaron Paul, is a comedy that somehow also manages to get to the deeper roots of human emotion and might actually give you an existential crisis. It’s so brilliant that the emotional roller coaster is completely worth it.

12. The League
Although it’s based around group of friends in a fantasy football league, you don’t need to be a football fan, or even a sports person in general, to enjoy "The League." Over its seven season run, the show featured hilarious plot lines and running jokes along with numerous NFL star cameos. Though its main cast never fails to deliver, the biggest laughs come as a result of the wild and oft-illegal antics of recurring character Rafi.

Available on: Netflix (Seasons 1-6), Hulu (Seasons 1-6)
13. How I Met Your Mother
I don’t have much patience for multi-cam sitcoms, as they are normally overly formulaic and often humorless, despite the fact that canned laughter tries its best to make every joke seem like the best in the world. (For example, the stain on American television that is "The Big Bang Theory.") However, HIMYM's unique premise along with great writing and a fantastic cast makes it a must-watch. The compelling storylines and sympathetic characters give the show the ability to make you laugh one minute and sob hysterically the next. I know I’m in the minority as one who loved the finale, but I feel that there was no better way to say goodbye to one of the best group of friends to cross our television screens.

14. Silicon Valley
Coming from Silicon Valley, I was initially skeptical about how this show would turn out. However, I was quickly impressed with the writing, subject accuracy, and talent of the cast. The show finds a way to turn the oft-mundane experiences of working at a tech startup into a raunchy, hilarious, and incredibly entertaining watch.

16. Love
This latest Judd Apatow project explores the complexity of modern relationships and how they play out in a clever, dry, and funny fashion. The series title may appear to be somewhat misleading when faced with the state of the relationship of the two main characters Gus and Mickey, but the show’s structure allows viewers to easily understand the complexity of the feelings between the two.

17. The Mindy Project
Mindy Kaling’s cute and clever romcom sitcom spent three seasons on FOX before moving over to Hulu. Though normally lighthearted, when faced with a more difficult subject, the show addresses it spot-on. Mindy shines as the leading lady, constantly delivering witty lines and clever pop culture references. Though going through a few switch-ups throughout the show’s duration, the supporting cast is a fantastic group of diverse characters whose lines and behaviors guarantee at least a few laughs per episode.
