Tired of always resorting to going to the movie theatre, the mall, or an amusement park when you want to do something fun? Looking for ways to make 2016 the best year yet? Good news! Here are 16 activities that are bound to help make this year spectacular!
1. Take part in a world-wide scavenger hunt!
All you have to do is download the geocaching app on your mobile advice! Geocaching, the "world's largest treasure hunt," is a fun activity that allows you to explore and enjoy surrounding areas.
2. Do something you wouldn't normally do, such as skydiving.
This is bound to result in an exciting story to tell friends and family about!
3. Explore a new place.
Close or far, there is nothing quite like a new adventure!4. Catch up with someone you have lost touch with.
Whether it be a friend or a relative, I can almost guarantee you won't regret it!
5. Visit a castle
Castles may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of the United States, but they do exist! Above is the Berkeley Castle, located in West Virginia.
6. Visit an amusement park that you haven't been to before.
While season passes to a nearby amusement park may be great, the rides may start to lose some of their excitement after riding them countless times. This year, try saving enough money to road trip to one of the nation's top ranked amusement parks for some added excitement!
7. Visit a historical place.
Even if you are not into history, these can still be beautiful sights to see! Check out the gardens above from Thomas Jefferson's home, Monticello!
8. Start a scrapbook.
This is a great way to document your adventures and give yourself a break from the technology-centered world!
9. Participate in Lantern Fest
Do you share Rapunzel's dream of seeing hundreds of lanterns light up the night sky? Well, Lantern Fest can make this dream come true!
10. Take up a new hobby.
You are never too old to try something new! Who knows, maybe you'll discover a new favorite activity!
11. Go to a national park.
These are great ways to see some of nature's beauty!
12. Go on a road trip.
Even if you don't have enough time or money for one across the nation, one throughout your state can be just as fun!
13. Take a risk (within reason)
While I do not recommend trying to replicate the above picture, if you are interested in a new career or trying a new sport you should go for it!
14. Be creative.
Whether it be in the kitchen baking or using a coloring book, letting your creative side out can not only be enjoyable, but also reduce stress levels!
15. Continue replicating ideas on Pinterest (or at least trying to).
These are almost always fun to try. If it does not end up looking like it is supposed to, hopefully it will at least provide you something to look back on when you need a good laugh!
16. Take a class because it is interesting, not because it is required for your major.
It is easy to get caught up in the classes you are required to take before graduation. While it is important to take these classes, it is also important to take classes you are interested in. This semester I am taking a class on "Time" and another one on "Nuclear Weapons and War Power." Are these related to my major (mathematics)? Not at all, but they will hopefully be interesting breaks from all of the math classes!
