2016 was a very interesting year, full of memories and lessons. I lost myself and started to find myself again. I did so many new things and met many new people. I see a lot of people tweeting or posting about how awful 2016 was, myself included sometimes, but in reality, there is more good than there is bad. I tend to look at the bad things more than the good, the failures more than the successes, but that does nobody any good. So here's 16 things I'm grateful for from 2016.

1. Losing Some People

I am not ending the year with the same people I started it with, and that, in all honesty, is a good thing. I got rid of some of the most toxic people that I was dedicating too much time to and refocused on myself and what I wanted.

2. Meeting New People

With losing, some people I met so many new people. I was able to meet some of the most amazing people in this world and I couldn't be more thankful that they are now in my life.

3. Starting College

College has been an amazing experience so far. I am working towards a future that I actually want to pursue and I am learning not only about my major but about life, and relationships and responsibility.

4. My Sorority

When I went off to college I had no idea that I was really going to join a sorority, but I'm sure happy I did. It has been amazing getting to know all the girls in there and being able to embody everything that the organization represents.

5. My Family

They have supported me throughout everything this year threw at me. They were my biggest support system and encouragers I have.

6. The Ability To Travel

I was able to go on two trips this year and being able to see two different places is so rewarding. Traveling makes me feel like there are endless possibilities out there.

7. Food

We all love and are very grateful for food.

8. Netflix

Everybody has had many nights where their excuse for not going out is to finish bingeing on their favorite Netflix series. So thanks, Netflix for being awesome.

9. Being Able To Work

Not everyone has a job nowadays. I am lucky enough to be able to be employed at school and back at home. I am beyond grateful for the ability to work and also places that employ me.

10. The Trend Of Adult Coloring Books

I found out that this is one of the best and cheapest stress reliefs there is. I'm glad this became a popular trend here recently.

11. Healthcare

Without the healthcare field, many of my friends and I would not have jobs to be studying for. Not only does it provide employment but also they take care of anyone and everyone. They are the unsung heroes.

12. My Best Friends

They're the best. I couldn't have made it through this year without the support of some amazing people and I will forever thank god for bringing them into my life.

13. Animals

Dogs. What more needs said?

14. Beaches

They make life really great.

15. My Parents

I know I said family already, but specifically my parents. They never stop trying to do the best fro em and my brother even though they aren't together. We're always their number one priority.

16. That I Made It Through

2016 was a trying year. So much happened and I'm grateful that I made it through it all to see 2017 roll around!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
